How so? If you don't pay me money, I'll go to jail and bring you with me? Doesn't sound like much leverage to me.

. now, he may make more sign on bonus than other UDFA's, but that's a tens of thousands more than someone else..... that's about it...
Jerry Jones loves to write big checks to players with "troubled" pasts, and believe me, there are ways around any restrictions, he could do like he did with Deion Sanders and give him a few acres of "prime" pun intended, real estate in Dallas

Yeah, it sure would suck for Collins to have his life turn out like that guy's, right? Millionaire, sure-fire HOF. Man, would that not be terrible?
Let's also not forget that Lewis was charged and tried for a crime, not just linked to an investigation.

I thought I had read somewhere that he was going to submit a paternity test. If it turns out he is not the father and it is confirmed he was out of town at the time of the murder, boy this story takes a 180 real quick... Sad situation all around. Prayers to the family of the victims.

There always a middleman that can turn on you and the shooter.
Maybe an immunity deal during another arrest (In going to take a flier on the chance that the shooter isn't finished with his criminal history)
LOL, but there is always crazy crap happening in the criminal world.
But seriously, the real threat would be someone else with knowledge threatening and extorting.

I don't think it has. But I may have missed it.
If he's NOT the father, then the story takes a dramatic turn in his favor and, hopefully, the focus is placed on finding whoever really did this.
If he IS the father, then I can understand their desire to talk with him, but I would also expect him to have some type of mourning period. He knew this woman intimately. In theory, he's lost a former girlfriend AND a child. I would expect him to be broken up about losing a child.

I'm surprised no one has posted a link to this story on muckraker website TMZ.
This came up on my Google News feed so: inb4 only idiots read TMZ

... Collins -- who was a projected 1st round NFL draft pick before the double murder -- spoke with investigators and said he has witnesses and phone records that prove he was nowhere close to Brittney Mills on the night she was gunned down.
quote:
Our sources say La'el told cops he hadn't spoken with Brittney for several months -- when she first suggested that he could be the father of her child.

is shot multiple times IN THE TORSO
Why do you think being shot in the torso means anything special in a murder and where do you think most people get shot if not in the torso?
You are trying way too hard to make a big deal out of where she was shot when lots of people who die in a shooting are shot in the torso.

He's probably trying to convey that the shooter may have been trying to kill the baby and the mother. At 8+ months pregnant, it isn't as if the shooter was unaware she was expecting.

Not to pile on, but the paternity test has no real bearing. If he thought the child was his at the time of the murder is the only real avenue for motive to tie him to the crime.
Proving the child wasn't his after the fact does nothing but establishes that the child wasn't his. It does not debunk the motive of at the time of the murder he potential though the child was his.
That being said, how in the world would someone plan this and not think that something like this right before the draft would not cloud his draft stock?
The whole thing is a screwed up mess.

If she didn't contact him after this, she may not have thought he was the father after all.

He has an alibi but a big motive. The thinking had to be that it was a hired hit. If no other suspects are found I would expect the police to keep an eye on him and his money for a long time to see if he's paying someone

Or "hasn't spoken in months" could mean he wasn't excited to be a father soon and see how his baby to be was doing.
Posted on 5/5/15 at 1:20 pm to Chad504boy
What's that supposed to infer?
