He's talking about the owners. The owners didn't save any money by not drafting La'El, they just paid that money to someone else that got drafted in the position that he would have been drafted.

My post went right over your head. I'm talking about the owners. Of course Collins lost money, but it doesn't save the owners anything with a rookie draft pool, slotted salaries, and a salary cap based off TV revenue

You've been consistent with your crap. How do you know he was apathetic? Do you know the details of the entire situation? Do you know if Collins knew whether or not the baby was his? You're assuming a lot. Being silent isn't necessarily being apathetic.

You're right. Maybe he made every effort to visit the child and to not delay the police investigation. We should keep an open mind. Fo all we know, he was kidnapped and forced to focus on the draft that he was not a part of.

I see what you're saying, and there's a good bit of truth there, but years 2 and 3 they could in theory save money (net.)

That's if he would have been selected in the first round.... Had he slipped into the second then no he would have not....

Now he will sign his 2nd deal in year two and he will get a possible big 3rd year deal so if he performs he may realistically make more than many other non-QB players in the draft.

Just a guess. Business could be picking up because they know now the baby was not his from the paternity test which would put a huge dent in his motive. And further corroborate his story. He may have taken it last week and the police now know the results a/o Monday. It would provide the needed clarity for NFL teams to begin negotiations.

The worst possible scenario, for LC, is that a shooter is never found.

Really? I can think of much worse scenarios than that. And I guess you don't believe that a person is innocent until proven guilty?

You also have guys like me who say the money grubbing NFL owners got together and decided to save some money by using this as an excuse to get a 1st rounder into the league without having to pay him 1st rounder money.

And you also had numerous people point out how stupid that statement/idea is based on the fact that the owners will pay the same amount of money regardless of how it is split between the players. If anyone benefited from him being undrafted, it's the other rookies.

They pay the same amount of money either way... Especially with slotted money.

All your theory does is make other players overpayed. Salary cap is based of TV revenue, so it really isn't an advantage to the owners

I love that somebody downvoted your comment. Something tells me that it's the person whose theory you disproved.

If anybody just saw the sportscenter update on La'el???

They have completely changed their tone and are now saying that he wasn't drafted because of a "legal situation in Louisiana" "involving a young woman that he may or may not have known"

After using the terms murder, shooting, double homicide, questioned by police, and suspect all fricking week... They pull this shite? God I hate the media.

Yeah....that's about how I imagined it would go. I don't think it can ever be overstated how much La'el got screwed in this whole situation.

I'm sorry, I must have missed the report stating that the case has been solved and all parties involved have been apprehended.

Im Sorry, I must have missed the part where La'el was ever even hinted at being involved in anyway. This isnt Russia 1927 where we are all guilty until proven innocent in the eyes of the govt. Collins has been "cleared" from the beginning just at much as you have

Business is picking up because teams don't have to possibly lose a high draft pick on someone who may never play. If he is named a suspect in the next few months he gets cut from team. Teams waiting for him to be clear of the investigation will be too late to the party.

If it were that simple he would have been signed to a team before Terrance McGee and the other UDFAs by Sunday evening. Clearly there was more to it than that.

If I had the options he's fixing to have, I would not be playing home games in Green Bay, New England, New York, Buffalo, Cincy, Cleveland...etc.

Pick a "good" team in the south or a dome that you feel comfortable with and go have fun playing football.
