I know many people here love to shite on Kling, but he's improved a lot this month. If posters are going to complain about every at-bat, then they should at least be informed.

Month of April (12 games in the lineup)
10 for 37 (.270 BA)
6 doubles
9 walks, 1 HBP (.426 OB%)
2 stolen bases

Those aren't great numbers, nor are they bad numbers. Jay plays him b/c of his glove, he's fast, and he gets on base. He has a OB% for the season AND conference play over Bingham, Pearson, & Milam.

The team is 16-1 with Kling in the leadoff spot for the season. I'd like to see his BA a little higher as well. But the guy gets on base and hustles his arse off every play.

Some players need to be sat to get out of a slump. Some need added pressure and more playing time. Kling is showing how great he really is. If he stays after this season, he will be a key piece next season. His talent level may be the best on the team.

He is hitting .167 in SEC play this year and hit below .200 in SEC play last year. You can have all the talent in the world and if you can't hit over .200 you can't play. He needs to go to a Southeastern or a McNeese where he has a chance to hit .300 next year instead of hitting below .200 in SEC play for 3rd straight year.

So what. He gets on base at .400 clip, is 2nd on the team in BB+HBP and plays an elite CF. The only place is may be going next year is rookie ball.

Jay would welcome him back with open arms next year if he chose to forgo the draft

Umm his SEC OBP is .294 Honkus which is horrible for a leadoff hitter or any other hitter for that matter. I hope he gets drafted or goes in the portal because while Jay may welcome him back with open arms so will the SEC pitching staffs he would be facing.

He’s been better this month at the plate and I get why Jay keeps him in the lineup. It’s got to be a mental thing with Kling at the plate. He seems to have trouble recognizing pitches and guesses way too often. When he guesses right he gets good results. It’s frustrating to watch though because he does have talent.

Since when is hitting .167 in SEC play considered good results? He hit below. 200 in SEC play last year as well so it is not a 1 year thing. Did you watch his at bats last night?

I mean you can probably say this about a lot of D1 players… not being blue to recognize pitches and relying on “guessing” makes you a bad hitter

After over 250+ PA it’s not a mental thing. He just can’t hit SEC pitching

I thought Kling would have a better year, but I don’t want him out of the line up. I’d ride or die with Kling. He’s is going to be a damn good player.

Yep, and if he continues to struggle in these last few series he may need to go to a lower level D1 team in the fall. Jay has given him a lot of opportunities to try and figure it out.

He hasn’t struggled the last few series. I understand some of you have blinders that prevent you from reading the topic

I remember playing with a guy who struggled at the plate, but could cover 2/3rds of the outfield with his speed and had a cannon. When you walked him, it turned into a double and often turned into a triple, sometimes within 2 pitches. His consecutive single season NCAA D1 steal record (53) still stands to this day.

Yep, he was our leadoff.

Anyone who is an LSU fan wants Kling to turn it around. Coach JJ was counting on him to be a big part of this team. He needs to start showing his potential. I hope he hits .300 the rest of the way.
