Kim Mulkey's deal with #LSU is set to pay Mulkey $2.5 million in year one and will increase to north of $3 million by the end of the deal, which runs through 2028-2029, an LSU official tells @TheAthletic.

Woodward took all the naysayers to the woodshed with that contract.

Woodshed Woodward!

If she wins, people will come and she'll earn that paycheck

Lol. No he didn't. We already he likes to shell out big bucks. This was a huge break for the program that she was willing to leave a successful program that she already built.

He's going to have to work a lot harder to find a coach for baseball. It seemed that got a lot of no's from people before they hired Mainieri, due the the extremely high expectations, one would assume. If he can get Mainieri to "step down" as Fargas allegedly did, and then find the right guy to lead baseball back to being a power, then I'll believe in him.

Remember, Skip Bertman hired Nick Saban. Also a no-brainer (though we didn't know the guy would go on to win this many titles). But he also hired Smoke Laval and Les Miles. Mainieri was at least successful for a while.

Very easy to say in hindsight.

I mean the guy only won 114 games in 11 seasons. Touting his hiring as some sort of negative is just asinine.

Your whole post is asinine if we're being honest. We had a vacancy for not even a weekend and made the best hire possible immediately and without drama. A lot of work goes into making something like that happen.

She’s earned it. Who has a better resume than her at LSU?

2.5M is a lot of cheese. Will WBB bring in those numbers to offset that anchor?

Definitely a good start that so many people put up non-refundable deposits for season tix. Pretty exciting time for Tiger Nation

I love LSU fans. We have an AD who is willing to go out and get coaches who are championship caliber and they bitch about it.

It's like they want the filet from Ruth's Chris but only want to pay outback prices.

Everyone was after him following his turnaround of a terrible MSU program. It was a no brainer.

He took over a goldmine, with Saban's OC still in place, and one a title. After that, all the guy did was set us back in the stone age. Miles was the greatest squanderer of talent in the history of college football, and everyone has accepted this. Except for you, apparently. We should have been able to go get a guy like Urban Meyer after Saban left. Instead we got some nutcase to sit on a treasure chest like a mother goose, until he finally got fired.

Well, this should be interesting for how this trickles down for other schools. No more gender pay gap for men's and women's coaches from complementary sports.

Who's complaining about it? It's these stupid comments that people keep making about Woodward proving people wrong that are ignorant.

It reminds me of an interview I saw with Hokie Gajan, when he was still a scout for the Saints, and he was basically asked how he "found" Ricky Williams. It's been too long to remember his exact words, but he essentially said "any idiot could have scouted Ricky and realized he was a great player".

We're all glad that Mulkey is here. But to act like Woodward did something amazing is just silly. She's wanted to be here for a long time, and finally the board approved the money it would take. I said the other day that I give the school credit for finally not being cheap when they had an opportunity.

Let's see Woodward fix all of the other problems, like Basketball facilities, concessions nightmare, baseball coach, etc.

And without having to formally terminate the prior coach. I agree with you, impressive work by the AD.

Are you new to LSU fandom? Did you see how coaching searches go prior to his arrival?

We announced a vacancy on a Friday afternoon and announced the most homerun of hires less than 48 hours later. It is the antithesis of how LSU used to operate. Having money helps, but so much more goes into making things like this happen.

If you don't think he's working on these, you just have your head in the sand. That's cool if so.
