Kiffin in no hurry to part ways if at all...

ATLANTA — Lane Kiffin paused before he walked off the turf Saturday night. Looking left, he sauntered toward the crowd and tossed his white Alabama visor to a young boy in the front row.
As he turned to step into the tunnel, another young fan yelled, “Don’t leave!”
If recent reports are true, Kiffin is scheduled for a head-coaching interview at Houston next week, and he might be considering a coordinator job in Baton Rouge as well.
“Our players joke about it. ‘Hey, it’s our last game together,’ ” Kiffin said after a 54-16 win over Florida in the SEC Championship Game. “We’ve got really loose, nice kids. … We just have a lot of fun. We don’t really talk about it seriously like that.”
Friday, head coach Nick Saban said Kiffin, who flamed out at USC and with the NFL’s Oakland Raiders — and left his Tennessee gig after one season — was ready to be a head coach again.
But Kiffin brushed aside related questions after the win.
“I’m not worried about that,” he said. “I want to keep winning these next two games. It’d be really special to do.”
Would he consider returning to the Crimson Tide in 2017?
“Yeah, sure do,” he said. “I’m happy to be here. Coach and I talked about it this week. What a great experience it’s been. All the different quarterbacks. Building it together. And we’ll keep going from here.”
Last year, defensive coordinator Kirby Smart accepted the head coaching job at Georgia after the SEC title game but stayed on Nick Saban’s staff through mid-January. Saban firmly believes that assistant coaches should stay on through the end of the season, and Kiffin was asked if he’ll oblige.
“Yeah,” he said, with a laugh. “If they’ll have me. You can ask coach that.”

So there's a possibility that they'll be no OC through mid January with NSD another 3-4 weeks after that...watch O screw this up

He is not coming here. Just think about it. Why in the hell would he come here to be the same thing he is at Alabama. It would make no sense for him to do that at all.

After watching that interview, he's got great respect for Saban. I don't think he'll go to another school inside the division. If I'm O I'm looking somewhere else

Whatever it is that you do for a living, would you keep doing the same thing in Alabama for an extra $500,000 per year?

If I'm winning titles on the regular...yes. Money isn't everything

I thought he got run out of there for ethics, not sucking. Am I remembering wrong?

I'm shocked that these rumors are out there. His agent, Jimmy Sexton, would never do that to draw interest to his client and get a bidding war for services

I'm sure Saban would be able to get Bama to pony up as much as need be to keep Kiffin rather than see him go to a rival school in a lateral move. That would be a hit to Nick and Bama's pride and they won't have that. He'll either go somewhere as a head coach, or he'll stay at Bama and they'll up his contract to match whatever LSU offers. That's what it takes to get the best coaches, and LSU's powers that be don't seem to understand that to get the top coaches, you've got to be willing to pay top dollar. LSU is more interested in taking a chance with the football program's future by gambling on someone who sounds good rather than someone who has proven to be good.
