there is one even MORE obvious than this....

I'm going to go with scoring more points than bama. I think that has to fall in the top 5 of the most critical components to beating bama....jmo

We need to play 4 Qts. instead of 3. The last 2 games we lost in the last 2 minutes!

The team has to have the mentality of scoring touchdowns in the 4th quarter and not field goals if they're leading when it begins. If Harris and/or LF7 are able to be aggressive via great X and O play calls (i.e. run hard and either create or find the big play) rather than allow the conservative nature that normally comes in the 4th to rear its head, LSU should come out on top. Put the defense in a position to close out the game without the pressure of giving up the lead.

I think it comes down to Harris' head. He's going to be forced into a mistake or two by the Bama D; how he responds will determine the outcome.

The key is to put quick pressure on the Alabama QB.. He has slow feet and on his drops he is not very quick to his spot.. If we keep him under pressure we win....it's that simple our offense will move the ball and score...

The obvious key is actually improved ST play and not turning the ball over.

If we fall behind early we will struggle all game. We have to stay tied or ahead and force turnovers.

1. Making Henry run E/W as opposed to N/S.

2. Containing their short passing game.

3. Pressure on Coker.

4. Import a new Special Teams unit.

4. My personal favorite....NOT shiting the bed in the last few minutes of the game.

Tackle, quit blowing coverages and quit playing like dipshits on special teams.

This game is all about 2 things. Winning the line of scrimmage and not giving the game away on special teams.

Bama is a good team defensively, but slightly overrated as a whole this year, imo. They remind me a lot of our team last year. They've dominated in the trenches this year simply because they haven't played any good offensive or defensive lines. I think we score two early TDs then coast until halfway thru the 3rd and pick it back up. We're never behind in this game. We come out for this ball game!

We keep the score as we have all year, except, allowing slightly UNDER 20:
LSU 35ish
Bama 17ish

Choker throws two INTs.

Nothing wrong w/anything you said, but I think the "key" is this....exploit whatever they sacrifice in an attempt to stop Fournette.

I think it'll play out like this.

1. No one, Bama included, can stop Fournette and the Fresh Legs over the course of an entire game without sacrificing the ability to proper cover something else. Saban knows this. He won't "man up" in attempting to stop LSU's running game FOR AN ENTIRE game. When everyone's fresh, he'll have some success early stopping Fournette without much shift. He knows though that our fresh RB's are better than his defensive folks that come in to give the 1's a break. Eventually, he'll have to move someone to stop the run, though it could be late in the game.

2. Have Steele tell us what Saban is most likely to sacrifice, or figure that out based on film, or both. I'd assume that since he's coached them personally and all, he likely believes his cornerbacks have the ability to cover two folks at once, even if they line up on opposite sides of the QB. I'd assume that when he does shift to stop it, it's most likely safety's selling completely out, under the theory that his corners don't need help over the top, especially if it means adding line of scrimmage personnel, as doing so likely reduces Harris time in the pocket.

If I'm correct, the key will be for Harris and the receivers to recognize no safety help, adjust to the deep route between the hash marks, Harris has to have nuts to stand tall in the pocket/allow the receiver to get down the field, and then throw him open to the middle.

additionally, should it play out like this, Harris also has to realize defenders are playing with their backs to the ball, and coaches have to realize that Harris benefits from that if he's generally throwing on the roll out.

So, expect big plays via Harris's arm to the middle of the field, and a long run or two by Harris. Should LSU choose to do this early, and Bama has to shift to stop LSU's PASSING attack AT ALL, Bama is in for a long night. Personally, I think Miles plays it close to the vest, and hopes for a "wear down" by the end of the game. I'd love to see us throw early, make Bama abandon any notion of loading up on LF, and then just sit back and enjoy the show.

misdirection? Creativity? What makes you think we would do this now? We haven't done it all year.

Apparently you haven't seen us play much. We go 9 deep on the DL. You go into a huddle every play no way we get wore down. Our front 7 will be the best LSU has seen in many years. We're much better on D than last year and in the secondary. Remember we have a 240lb running back to beat on your D for four qtrs. When both backs go to the combine Henry will have better numbers than LF bigger, stronger, faster!

Val Covin, you're a buffoon. LSU runs misdirection about every third play.

Establishing the run and execution in the short passing game. Bama is a good team this year but not a great team. Tigers are a better team as long as they execute and play a clean game on special teams.
