If we're being honest, Collis Temple turned it into a hit piece. I can understand that it's wild how much of an economic disparity there is between CBK and neighboring homes along the Northgate. Babb didn't take into account the fact that TAF funds Kelly's contract through donations. Regardless of the fact that he's making $100mm, $4mm over ten years is all that LSU is paying.

Missing that important piece, the original article lacks a huge clarification and makes it look like we care more about football than we do. Even though we rely on football a great deal.

if he didn’t know, he wasn’t doing his job

if he did know, he intentionally didn’t mention it

Its clickbait. Nothing new in there, just buzzwords to make vapid white women fear something.

Many readers have said I could’ve chosen any college coach in the country, and I couldn’t agree more
Except ... Guess What? ... Kent Babb did not choose any college coach in the country. He chose LSU's coach. By definition, if he could have chosen ANY coach, but instead focused on but ONE coach, By definition, THAT IS A HIT PIECE!

All he had to do was drive a mile or so south of campus and look at sabans old house and see how lsu started the salary trend for coaches when they paid saban $1 million 20 years ago or so

I read the whole Kelly article.

It's a hit piece on LSU, Louisiana, Baton Rouge, and Brian Kelly is the scapegoat as the rich white man living in an ivory tower.

Of course this disingenuous hack knows that, but he'd rather throw his hands up and act like he has no idea why people at LSU wouldn't care for him.

So there was no point to the article. Head football coach makes $10 million. Diversity, equity and inclusion staffer with a bad past makes shite.

Water is wet.

Why write it? And who read it?

I don't think he knew, but on paper, TAF is directly affiliated with LSU. I imagine there are also a lot of other universities that have the same plan as LSU with regards to paying coaches, but I've never researched, nor am I aware of which specific ones pay coaches the way we do.

Many of which are the highest or near the top of the Pau scale for their titles in the NCAA.

Responding again to beg folks not to click on the link and validate another reporter defending his ilk and criticizing Mulkey for standing up for herself.

Or he could write an article about jimmy sexton and the way he elevated coaches salaries on the back of black football players at the expense of all universities

My God dude, you write about New Orleans football and all of a sudden you're an expert witness on Louisiana? And you rep South Carolina? GTFO

Now he's a philosophizer!

Why not base this article on South Carolina or Bama? Why single out LSU?

Exactly. Everything he said in that article about LSU/Baton Rouge, could be said of Alabama/Tuscaloosa, USCe/Columbia, or Ole Miss/Oxford. He acts as if BR is some shanty town where everyone is dirt poor. Sure, Kelly makes a ridiculous amount of money, but so does every college football coach when compared to the average residents of the city/town and state they live in.

The author is playing to an East coast and west coast elitist audience regarding a fly over area of the country. .

The whole piece was chock full of “waa waaa” bs from Collis Temple acting like the gatekeeper of LSU sports to make Kelly look like some entitled white man

How many “journalist” from another state have done multiple stories on LSU coaches?

This guy has an ax to grind

What really pisses me off is when they act coy about it all.
