You could argue the gymnastics or the softball team? I will stick with what I used to know - softball. Has the LSU Women's softball team ever been ranked #1 in the NCAA at any point in time during the season? My memory fades but I do not recall them being a #1 ranked team ever. Someone w far more enthusiasm is welcome to look it up. Didn't check other threads so if germans my bad. I'll hang up and listen.

Oh, yeah. It's what I know also.

Yes, I did see the Lady Tigers spank #1 Florida in the last 2 (of 3) games. IMO, Florida is lucky they weren't swept (in their house, no less).

Is LSU good? No, not really. Why? Because they are super!!! Now, LSU, you're # 1.

Nah. I have also seen the Lady Tigers gym team in at least 3 meets on SEC channel, etc. Wow. Super wow. Only #1 Oklahoma beat them all season. Oklahoma barely won the match. It was early in the season. While I can't relate to the vault, the bars, the beam and the floors you can rest assured I know exactly what I am looking at in each and every gymnastics match.

Perfection is "just a step away, just a step away" in every event for every Lady Tiger. I never thought watching gymnastics could be so beautiful.

Coach DeDe has her team exactly poised to take down everyone else nationally. Of course they will be better next year. Go Tiger women. You are fantastic and can do routines that I could only dream of doing...

So, it's not a shouting match (to me). It should be a camaraderie with LSU vs. the world in all sports. Both teams mentioned are super great. Thanks, coach Breaux. Thanks, coach Torina.

BTW, LSU baseball is about to re-establish LSU dominance in one of LSU's best known NCAA sports...

I played baseball in Louisiana and played as a "slow pitch" softball pitcher/catcher/outfielder/infielder/long time player coach. Really, Lady Tiger pitchers - I so relate to you as a pitcher of many games (albeit a good part of it was slow pitch).

Still, the 2 sports are similar. In each sport, each individual game is different. You must be able to quickly identify "pretty much" what the umpire is calling as a strike. Beyond that, you must be able to adjust your game accordingly.

In Lady Tiger softball (as a pitcher in fast pitch softball, just like LSU baseball), you must so very much also be able to mentally work in your desired pitch, what pitch is working for you so far in this game (desired pitch or not), your (then, calculated) desired pitch location, the balls/strikes pitch count, what stats and previous video reviews have shown to be the weakness(es) of the hitter, what the coach is calling, game situation (bases empty or loaded, game score, can I afford to put this batter on base or not, etc.), fielder shifts, # of outs and so much more.

In addition, you must mentally assess your pitch, speed, location in real time (now) and then deliver it.

Sometimes (many times), a personal fail (like a walk) is a team win.

To further complicate that, the umpire's "strike zone" can change as the game progresses. Requires further "adjustment". Game ain't easy. You know that. I know that. Just keep adjusting.

Nervous. Of course you're nervous. Especially at the moment. I know. You are human. Ladies, men - just enjoy it as it happens. Try to relax in the moment.

As a team you Tigers and Lady Tigers will go far...
