It's a bunch of 18 year olds in this forum. Verne is old school and still doing his craft at a top level. Gary is good as anyone. Would these morons rather Brent and Ara?

He'll hammer LSU at times because he's thinking the same thing the fans do sometimes -- what the hell is going on in Les head? Deal with it.

Actually i think he is with Les, why on earth would you not give it to #7. Our fans certainly dont think this. They think we should try to win games by playing to our weakness.

There's no one I'd rather than Gary. Verne doesn't bother me either way. He's just an announcer.

As opposed to, say, Gruden who just goes "bam! That's a great play!

Gruden sounds like a John Madden wannabe.

Everyone loved Madden but I never got it. He offered zero analysis, he only described what he saw, which any fan can see. A color analyst should provide ANALYSIS. Madden did very little of that.

Danielson is fantastic with analysis. Sees the entire field and knows, even before the replay, exactly what occurred and why. The guy is very, very good.

He was impressed with our "72" year old kicker. And I was wondering if he was right after seeing some of our kicks.

This is 5th grade logic.

Our schedule has been weak so far, so we can survive with a run-heavy offensive strategy.

But (and here's where some actual thought is required) when we play the tougher defenses on our schedule, they'll be more likely to be able to slow down our running attack. Then we'll have to be able to throw it.

It's best to, you know, actually prepare for those tougher games with a balanced offense than to stick our head in the sand and think it'll all be ok if we just hand off to Fournette.

In his early years with Pat Summeral he did that very well and often... But latter on he just was A talking head that lived off what he had done years before... Say what you want but Madden KNOWS football.........

I didn't mean to imply Madden didn't know football, just that as a color analyst he didn't provide much actual analysis.

Verne is one of those sad stories about the once great that didn't know when to quit.

Guy who used to call a great golf tournament -among other things- is now an absolute gas-bag calling the SEC for CBS. I haven't seen him do an SEC game for at least 3 years now where he doesn't makes multiple gaffs anbd non sequiturs; you can actually count on it.

If you listen real closely during the CBS games, I swear you can hear ice cubes bouncing around in a nice 3 finger pour of scotch.

It's just groupthink. They heard someone say that Verne and Gary hate LSU, so they just agree that's the case. LSU fans aren't alone. Every SEC team's fans think CBS hates them. Yes, including Bama.

The game is on fricking TV. You can see what's happening!!! Maybe it's just me, but I don't NEED the play by play guy to tell me what's happening. I can see it with my own two eyes. The PBP guy is there for ambiance. It's why the TV networks like guys with distinct voices. Verne is a longtime broadcaster with a very recognizable voice. Same with Musburger, Keith Jackson, Bob Trumpy, etc. They are all pros and frankly couldn't give a shite who wins the game.

Gary is a great analyst. He can explain what's going on to a depth that the average fan has no concept of. I like him the best out of everyone because he doesn't just sit there and act like everything is great. He'll point it out when a player or coach makes a stupid play/decision. I like that! I want to hear from a guy who calls it like he sees it, not just some bozo who wants to make sure he doesn't hurt someone's feelings by criticizing them

Love me some Verne Lundqvist.

Great voice, calls the game in front of him. As a play-by-play guy, he doesn't try to do the color commentator's job.

Just so we're clear... Keith Jackson > Verne Lundqvist
