Hilarious that Paul is calling for his players to hustle, show energy, play hard, etc. considering his own overall demeanor during ballgames. There is nothing more demoralizing for a team than to see their coach looking disgusted and demoralized. I would rather see Paul light into someone's arse and get fired up than sit on the bench with his hands in his face.

When the players dont respect you and dont want to go to battle for you, a team will never reach its full potential. Meaning, with Paul at the helm, none of our teams will reach their full potential.

Even Les knew to clap during adversity.

It seems undeniable that he has lost the team, to some extent.

Can he get them back? I don't think insinuating to the media that the players aren't trying hard enough is the way to do that.

Who cares? We are told we can’t fire Paul or find anyone better so we must accept this is LSU baseball now. As we were told with Les, remember these things:

1) Who can we find that is better?
2) We can’t afford to fire him.

Rinse and repeat.

Now imagine THIS coach publicly calling you out for not having any hustle and not representing your university proudly.

I think Teddy Cullinane from Bull Durham said it best: “It’s time to tell it like it is, sports fans. And this is the most wretched season I’ve seen in 20 years. And possibly the worst LSU team in a half-century. Is the modern-day athlete a pale imitation of the great old warriors? Only Crash Davis stands out this year, begging the question: What are these boys thinking about? Because it sure ain’t baseball.”

I havent dove into all of the threads that were made ,during
and after ,the game last night.

Has anyone seen ,poncho "goat" villa, if not ,he will be back after we beat some shite team in a midweek game.

Who still wants paul here? Just ponchovilla?
Whoever you are ,if you exist, the two will be known as poncho and lefty.

I think hes alone supporting paul now though.

Eta: just remembered one,its the person with the user name of "bee kind" .
From now on ,the two shall be known as poncho and lefty ,from the song.

If i were a player, i wouldnt let a coaches body language determine how i would play. This thread has a ridiculous premise

I’m 53 years old and I went to my first LSU baseball game in May of 1986. I went to see LSU play Jackson State in the Baton Rouge Regional.

I have followed LSU baseball for 36 years and I have never lost hope for this program until the past three or four seasons. I see no hope in this program until serious changes are made.

It’s just a kids game but it’s heartbreaking that no one at LSU gives a damn about what’s going on.

I guess we have the memories that Skip brought us.

What's hilarious to me is that this game wasn't even close to decided yet. It was 2-1 in the 4th fricking inning, and he's moping like that?

I didn't watch or listen to the game last night (thankfully), but just fricking imagine how he looked/acted last night contrast to the GIF.

That .gif says it all.

Look at the score. It's only 2-1, and the man looks defeated or disinterested at best. It's like he knows a 2-1 deficit is too great to overcome.

It's not like it's during an inning break either. It's a 3-2 count, for crying out loud! Whether pitching or hitting, that's a count with a lot of excitement attached to it.

He looks like he's wondering how to get gum off his shoe.

If I was college-aged, I would not feel inspired by that. If I was on the opposing team and saw that, I'd know we had the game in hand.

So you don't think a coach in the dugout acting like he is checked out has an effect on the players?

I think most of yall hyper analyze coaches demeanor on the sidelines or in the dugout when they are losing and see what you want to see. I dont think a coaches demeanor determines much about how his players play in baseball.
