I'm almost positive he played in a basketball tournament in Lake Charles this past weekend. Chris Bass and Marcus Thornton played in it also which I think they had other NBA players playing also. Being that it was unsanctioned and was played within the last 48 hours I can almost guarantee that's what game they are talking about.

I doubt he'll miss any regular season games because of this.

Not surprised, im surprised he hasn't been told to stop going up to the campus rec and playing 5 on 5 with the Chinese exchange students.

LC folks can elaborate, but it looks like he probably played in something called the "Tournament of the Stars". The website for the event bills it as a charity event that raises scholarship money for high school students (presumably to attend college). It looks like anyone can put together a team and join for an entry fee. I assume the winning team gets some sort of prize money. It also looks like the event draws some (then) current and former NBA players (Stephen Jackson, Penny Hardaway and Von Wafer are featured on the website as former participant)

Assuming Gray played, I guess the question is did the orgaizers use his "celebrity" to promote the even and/or did he get paid to participate. Both may be NCAA violations. Or if they/he didn't, is it a violation for NCAA athletes to participate in athletic competition where the winner receives money?

May ultimately be nothing and I hate that the kid has to miss a trip of a lifetime because of it, but there is far too much on the line for LSU this year for them to ruin it by playing a potential ineligible player. Better safe than sorry

Would you rather him play on a meaningless trip and possibly render the whole season null?
