Draymond Green is only 6'7" and played power forward at Michigan State. He stayed 4 years and during his senior year he really improved his outside shooting. Now he is very successful at Golden State. Im not saying Mickey should stay 4 years but if he seriously wants to make a career in the NBA, another year to work on his outside game will be very beneficial

I think he'll be fine if he decides to leave. Looks to be a first rounder if he does decide to leave after this season.

Green is much quicker and stronger then Jordan. Plus he has 15 pounds on Jordan. And he can hit threes. Mickey's ceiling is Taj Gibson.

I hope he doesn't leave because, obviously, next year can be a great one. I also think he can improve his overall game and really stand out. However, sometimes he looks like he's mentally checked out in games, which is only a bad sign of departure to me.

Quicker? Lol no. Green was huge compared to Mickey

Green was also a good ball handler & excellent passer

Taj Gibson no, hakim Warwick yes

It would be, except if he stays another year he will be playing in the post more than ever. Next season, we won't need Mickey to shoot from the outside more than he does now, with Simmons/Blakeney and all our guards coming back, we will have plenty of perimeter players.

Well, the OP is suggesting Mickey stay up to 2 more years to work on things. Adding 15 pounds of muscle and an outside jumper in a 2 year period isn't beyond the realm of possibility.

To the guy who said Mickey's a likely 1st round pick: just stop. He's a nice player here, but that's all. Nothing he does on defense at all will translate to the pro game. He would be destroyed in the post by NBA centers and power forwards, and a lot of 2's and 3's would be able to drive on him.

Draymond Green can defend NBA wing players. His lateral quickness is much better then Jordan's.

Mickey is considered best player on team. If he stays he may be 4th best player. It's best for him to leave.

This is so ignorant. Yea, Simmons is definitely better, but it's not proven that Blakeney is, or that Martin will get better than him.

Also, playing alongside great players will increase his efficiency and bring more attention to our program. Along with that, he will be a mid 2nd rounder this year, it's beneficial for him to come back

You don't know much about basketball, do you?

first, he would be no worse than 2nd best next year. Martin won't be back. Second, being 4th best player had worked for some Kentucky players, so the quote/thought is meaningless.

All of you must not remember green in college. In no way was he quicker than Mickey does now at same time. Green developed his game. Mickey has nice touch and great shooting form. If he works he will be able to develop his range and handles

Don't know Green or his game in either college or the pros, but it seems like Mickey's outside game might be hindered by the fact that we so desperately need him down low. He is really the only player who has any sort of presence down there. Can't imagine it will change next year with 2 really good perimeter players coming in. If anything, he'd likely be counted on even more down low.

Not to say he can't work on his outside game at LSU anyway, but if he's not allowed to show it in games next year based on team need, what's the point? Why not work on it in the NBA and get paid and not have to worry about writing 3rd year papers and whatnot?

They don't grade Mickey on being the best player on the LSU basketball team, lol...

Everyone assumes that any player's draft stock will go up after another year in school, which certainly is not the case. Mickey next year will have a very similar role to Mickey now. He will not all the sudden become a stretch 4 or a 3 with Simmons coming in. Mickey already has the raw athleticism he needs. Aside from putting on some weight, there is not much that another year on this team can do for Mickey's draft stock.

That being said, it would be great if he were to come back for another year just to make a deep run in March.

Sorry, but no. He's not a better shooter or ball handler. Green shot 37.7% from 3 his last 2 years of college and was always more comfortable playing on the perimeter than in the post. Mickey is just the opposite. He's way more comfortable playing down low than on the perimeter. And Mickey is not a good ball handler. It's 1 of the main reasons why he's averaging 3.4 turnovers per game. Green would take the ball up the court half the time for Mich St. And Green played on the perimeter most of the time his last 2 seasons at Mich St. Mickey is almost always within 10ft of the goal. And yea Green is playing the "PF" for Golden St, but he plays on the perimeter most of the time on the offensive end. And he plays the SF just as much as he does the PF. And Mickey cant do that.

Yea Mickey is more athletic, but is not as skilled with the ball in his hands as Green. And Mickey has a higher FG%, but that's mainly because majority of his baskets come within 10ft of the goal while Green was playing on the perimeter. And Mickey is improved with his shooting and what not, but he still gets 70%of his points in the paint.

Mickey reminds me of a shorter version Taj Gibson for the Bulls... Off the bench big who can run the floor well and brings energy to the court with dunks and blocks. But he's gonna have a harder time at that due to his height and I haven't ' seen anything from Mickey that makes me think he will be able to play on the perimeter In the NBA where guys are bigger, stronger, faster, and better than they are in college. His NBA outlook is very mirky.

I follow Michigan State basketball almost as much as i do lsu. And I can say that Mickey and Green are two extremely different players.
