He will be very lucky to make the roster.. Just like 80% of all participants not taken in the first round. I wish him well.

I had the same thoughts as every voice on that first spin move: Travel! That said, he'll make the roster this year. He needs to improve his defensive base and positioning if he wants to stick around.
Oh, and "Jordan Mackey"....

He's having a good summer and he needed to. I think he makes the roster this year. They don't have guys at forward who are "must have" guys. Mickey has a lot of things going for him and the open floor of the NBA court will help him.

be prepared for a raining of downvotes, even though what you said is just reality for most second round picks. some people hate to hear the truth and act like it's you being a hater by expressing such

I've watch 2 of his games and he has looked pretty good. I think the Celtics want him on their roster but who knows.

it's a blanket statement that is only partially true. While most 2nd round draft picks do not make a roster in the first year, Mickey at Boston was a very good starting spot. I honestly don't see him being in the bottom 5 of their current roster, which would get him cut.
They lost Brandon Bass this offseason and they really tried a lot of guys last year that didn't work out. Rosters are only 13 players, but they played 22 players last year moving people up and down... I see a very promising opportunity for Jordan Mickey in Boston. They are in a transition phase that should help him get on the court.

It is generally true for players drafted in his spot, but for him to say it specifically about Mickey just shows his ignorance. Everyone on the Celtics subreddit is very excited about Mickey and thinks he has a spot.
Those aren't LSU homers cheering for him to get a spot. Those are Celtics homers wanting one of those 15 spots to go to Mickey.

For the player drafted at 33 it is definitely not true. In the last decade there's been just two guys drafted in that spot who spent the majority of the season in the D-League rather than on the NBA team's roster.

Good for him.
As long as he doesnt have to shoot crunch time free throws in these summer league games, he could be setting himself up for a legit shot to make the Celtics roster.

It's the summer league. Don't read too much into it

It's a very unnesecary comment in a thread praising Mickeys good performance in a professional summer league game.
Mickey actually has a very good shot at making the celtics roster. They have a LOT of young guys.

Happy for him hope he succeeds in the NBA

I think he will be a good NBA player. He had good freshman and sophomore seasons. It's just too bad all the bad came out in his final 10 minutes of NCAA bball.

And? There are plenty of d-league players with million+ dollar contracts. For example (because I'm a Grizzlies fan) Jarnell Stokes
