Exposure is important. Our program was left in the shitter by our previous coach. We're trying to create some sort of a buzz. Mickey's potential return is huge for our chances next year, and, in turn, the future. Why don't you get this?

I do "get this"! I just don't think I need a presser for a freshman to say he is staying in a program he is already in....The ONLY people this is important to is the potential recruits. And they won't be watching a presser to find this out.

NO ONE at all is bashing Mickey and his tremendous importance to LSU's success next year. We are disagreeing with the idea of this presser being a good idea.

I prey he stays, if not, how is this a good idea to televise LSU's loss of him?

fwiw, for all you trashing the idea of a press conference, it's being held for the publics benefit.
LSU is major university and athletics are a major part of the school.

Holding a presser allows the media to ask questions and gain insight on why he made the decision, what went into it, what plans are coming for the future, etc. Questions most fans are (typically) interested in.

Food for thought.

FWIW.....very reliable source just told me that LSU's media relations people don't even know what the decision is....so take that and run with it.

You are off on this one. You are here talking about it. I'm reading about it. If Jones steps up and makes a statement about this upcoming season with the new guys we have coming in, I definitely want to hear about it.

If he does a great job with that statement (think of his initial press conference) it could definitely go a long way for this program.

So he could do it on his weekly program, right?

Not flaming, but how so? If he is staying and JJ needs this to help, we are in deeper trouble than I thought.

There is no weekly program in the offseason. But, either way, Jones will be smart to do it at a time that he thinks will give him the biggest market impact.

You seem to be a very black and white thinker. It's not necessarily about NEED. It's just a smart to promote your program. It makes a difference, and his audience can literally be the incoming recruits, future recruits, current team, media, and a somewhat skeptical fan base.

If JJ makes a strong statement and introduces Gray and the freshman...all while praising Mickey and Martin, the availability of Hornsby, etc. it will be very well received.

They didn't know JOB's decision last year. Nor did his teammates.

He's staying.
