CJJ clearly needs to go. LSU needs to stop hiring old re-treads and hire an up and coming coach who can recruit the region AND actually coach basketball. Here's my preliminary list.
1. Danny Manning, Wake Forest
Was the number 1 assistant under Self at Kansas, had great success in a short time at Tulsa, and has made strides at Wake. Could view LSU as a better job than ACC bottom feeder wake forest. Would be pricy to get him away.
2. Archie Miller, Dayton.
Has made dayton into a consistent power in a tough basketball conference. Recruits highly athletic, disciplined players, and wins. Would also be pricy.
3. Jerod Haase, UAB
Knows the region, was a top assistant for Roy Williams at Kansas and UNC for years. Would bring uptempo style with great coaching chops, and has kept UAB winning even through all of their AD financial woes. Would probably come for a reasonable price.
4. Brad Underwood, Stephen F. Austin
Has turned SFA into the dominant program in their (admittedly crappy) conference. Beat Iowa St. in the NCAA tournament, and is a regular NCAA tournament team. Strong regional ties, knows the recruiting base.
Thoughts?

Brad Underwood would be huge. The guy is 47-1 in his conference since getting to SFA. Compare that Jones who was 91-88 in the Sun Belt when we hired him.

Break the bank. Whoever can consistently make us a top 4 SEC team and the tourney almost year in and out. Jones brought the excitment back take advantage of it

Someone mentioned Tony Bennett from UVA and I would love that as a possibility.

I would too but it aint happening. He's on the verge of becoming king there. Why would he leave to go to a school where basketball is 3rd fiddle? I know his wife is from BR, but believe it or not, not everyone wants to return to Louisiana.

I'm gonna be pissed unless we get Phil Jackson.

We can stop with the Bennett suggestions. If he ever bolts for UVA it'll be for Wisconsin

useless thread is useless

we're not replacing Johnny after this year unfortunately. We will wait until the bottom completely falls out next season on what should be a truly terrible time. By then the recruiting will be totally shot and the new coach will have quite the clean up job on his hands.
But hey Collis and Dale are happy so who cares about the program as a whole?

I was trying to post somewhat realistic candidates. He would be insane to leave UVA right now.

This would be a fantastic hire.

I really hate to say this, but JJ is very likely to come back next season. It really sucks, but I don't see Alleva pulling the trigger on him.
