Les Miles got an extra year when the preceding governor intervened. I is just covering his bases.
But it’s a shame to see a governor getting directly involved in LSU athletics.
Being a fan is fine, helping recruit when needed is fine, but ponying up to a coach for political gain isn’t. We’ve seen it hurt LSU in the past.

If JBE would fire and replace the BOS at LSU I'd vote for him. And that's saying a lot!!!

What a bunch of crap. Coach O knows that any time he can be seen by thousands of people, it's good for the program. I am sure that's all he was thinking.

To my knowledge, you can't just "fire" the BOS on a whim. They're appointed to staggered terms by the sitting governor when a spot comes open. I imagine there are grounds for removal but the governor can't just wipe the slate clean.

This doesn’t surprise me one bit. This is the same coach who allowed the AD to watch film sessions with the rest of the staff because “Canada was mean.”
What HC with any self respect allows the AD to sit in film sessions to act as a mediator? And frick Alleva for even asking to do this.

He knows who controls his destiny. At LSU, that also includes the Governor.
Self preservation in sports, is staying out of politics, altogether. Just avoid it, and give non answers when asked. You surely don't show up at a fundraiser, essentially endorsing a candidate.
