Lot of smoke coming from Faggie side. I honestly think he stays. Any reason for concerns here? Faggies saying they are going to announce their hire Wednesday.
Wrong board!! Sorry.

If he coaches on tuesday and collects a fricking bonus and then goes to aggie land on wednesday then miles needs to call him out. Also fire alleva

I assume this is a money play but I guess we will see. I hope he stays next year could be special. But lots of fricking quality DC around. We should go straight for Ryan just for fun.

It just seems uncharacteristic.
He coached at Tennessee forever, and only left when Kiffin booted him for Kiffin's dad. He just seems the local consistent type.
That being said we need to pay the man.

Should we match A& M offer?

If Chavis says, pay me A&M money or i walk, then yeah we should. I don't know what team improved by having their coach hired away.

I will admit I'm a little worried. But with a coach like Chavis and school like LSU there are many moving parts/variable:
A) Chavis isn't "up-and-coming" he's established. So the need to keep things quiet to bolt (a la Saban on Christmas morning from FL) isn't there.
B) I can easily Chavis telling TAMU, maybe even LSU, he's not even going to discuss contracts till after the game. He's old school like that.
C) Doesn't his contract (or extension?) expire 12/31 of this year? So he's still under contract till after the game. Even more "leeway" for (B)
D) If that extension runs trough 2015 and I'm mistaken about it expiring in 2 days... then is the difference between LSU pay (with bonuses, and new offer) and what TAMU is offering greater than the buyout? Of course, I'm sure TAMU would take care of that one time buyout without it being factored into the salary.
All and all, other than vast sums of money I don't see the motivation here. I do see motivation and/or reasoning for him to delay, at least until after the game.
ETA: at least right now, the most interesting thing to me is who can/will make the call to match TAMU if necessary- Alleva or Miles? I'd love to be a fly on the wall to see. By the way, hints in the past say it lies mostly with Miles; he's gone to Alleva with asst. raises before successfully.

He's not going anywhere people jesus. It would be an epic frick up if LSU did. We're talking about Alleva here who folds under any kind of negotiations and gives coaches what they want always. You better believe if Chavis wants more he's going to get it with a potential great season for LSU next year. It's the one time it makes sense to pay then whatever they want.

Well, there's always (E) on my list...
E) Chavis is intentionally going to string TAMU along for recruiting purposes. This may be in collusion with Miles/Frank or on his own.
I wouldn't think that he would do that, but you never know. If he's decided he's retiring at LSU he may just have said I don't GAF if it's dirty.
And, just take a step back and look at Sumlin's history with assistants. Many have bolted, many have been fired. At a much higher rate than any other Power 5 school (without HC changes) I would bet. That's an indicator of instability (or fear, or pressure... whatever term you choose).
