I'm wondering is this is the normal spring hype or if real progress is being made....we won't know for a while.

The offense is actually causing the defense trouble, which was not typical with Les

Wide receiver Drake Davis is having a great start to his early spring, according to multiple sources, and he has shown consistency in his performance. Davis is said to have been dominant at times during practice, hooking up on a big 70-yard touchdown on a catch and run from quarterback Lindsey Scott Jr. during the Tigers' scrimmage.

The Tigers are thin and inexperienced at the wide receiver position, but Davis has made a statement so far.

man if Drake gets going that guy will be a monster

Cautiously optimistic but I have been conditioned to shrug off spring practice reviews and hype.

But hey we always heard how great BH and JJ were in spring ball....that always turned out well in September, except for not really.

I'm not saying that this is that....but I am saying we don't know if it is or it isn't.

i'd say there is probably some truth to it. les miles and cam cameron are no longer involved so i would expect drastic improvement.

while true the common denominator in those hype machines is no longer on the sideline

There's always new and shiny stuff in the spring, that's what spring ball is for, excitement only in the offseason.

However, with a new staff finally, we certainly can finally believe in massive change. Although we can all admit we were duped this time last year when we were under the impression Miles did actually change the offense.

Agreed...and certainly I'm more optimistic this season than I have been since 2012.

Les Miles made a living off of duping people after the 2012 national championship game

Absolutely.

But the reports from several people are different. We had a recruit say we barely ran the I and were in 3/4 WR sets more. He couldn't believe it was LSU he was looking at. Lots of people saying stuff like that.

Very excited.

Also, Drake Davis' ceiling is NFL Pro-Bowler. That's how much of an athlete that guy is and how perfect his body type is for that position. Really hope he keeps this up.

Something is changing. You just had a QB recruit make the comment that it doesn't even look like LSU and they had 3 & 4 WRs on the field most of the time. What that means is teams won't be able to sneak those safeties up all the time and if they do it will be a mismatch. Then if teams feel like they want to go Nickel all the time against it Guice will gash the frick out of them. Canada isn't reinventing the wheel here. He's just doing what any OC with a fricking pulse would've done with top 5 offensive skill players.

I don't know how anyone could have been duped last year with Cam still at the helm

Well, pretty much all of us thought Miles wouldn't be ignorant enough knowing his job depended on it.

I still don't think we'll ever know how much Cam got to control the offense, we do know Miles' mettle'd fairly heavily in it.
