Pete also cost Leinart millions by talking him into staying for 2005 season when he would've been the #1 overall pick. Instead he comes back, doesnt win a BCS Championship, and falls 9 spots.

That's 1-Pete for ya

Athletic department wants him to so fans stop bitching about everybody leaving early?

Ha...I'm one of them. Actually, I don't bitch about it, but I do think it's becoming an issue for Miles/the program since our guys leave in huge numbers compared to all other schools. You can't blame a lot of players for going. But I think it would big for the program to get anyone to stay at this point because everybody has been leaving early. Breaking in a new QB - Hill staying would be huge.

No. He isn't. Jeremy Hill is a true sophomore, not a redshirt sophomore.

I remember Mark Sanchez holding a press conference and Pete Carroll acted like a bitch during it and wouldn't give him his support.

You are correct and Pete Carroll was correct. He said that he thought Sanchez needed another year of college to prepare him for the pros. Sanchez is a bust so lil' Petie was right.

From an eligibility standpoint, the season away from football amounted to a redshirt year, sending Hill into 2012 as a freshman running back with four seasons to play.

it IS confusing in his situation... "redshirt" in name only as he wasn't on the team and didn't practice with them as far as I know...?

he basically "took a year off" after high school that didn't count against his eligibility.

Right.. I know that LSU refers to him as a true soph. But I was unaware of the following:

I thought he still had 5 to play 4 once his clock began.. But I don't know. It's all a moot point anyway. It's either one more year or none for him.

Nothin wrong with a little positive pub. He's gonna be a Heisman candidate next year, probably marketing as much as anything. As long as he stays, I'm cool with it.

Graduated highschool.
Year 1from HS Set out year due legal issues, not redshirt
Year 2 from HS enrolled freshman year at LSU, played true freshman.
Year 3 from HS, played 2nd year as true sophomore. Now eligible to declare for NFL draft since 3 years removed from HS
Or
Stay at LSU with three years left (if one of the future three was a redshirt year) to play two years (his. Junior and senior campaigns
