I dont know for sure. I know his dad is a football coach, so i doubt he started playing as a JR. He's prob been playing his whole life.

WR coach at Brenham. Don't know how long he has been a coach, though.

JL always seemed to look like a terrified kid on the field,
I've never seen a terrified kid lead a team back against an SEC team like Lee did against Auburn.

There is no doubt that Jefferson's performance last night was hands down our best QB performance of the season, but he is a true freshman and it's not like he has never made a mistake. Both Jefferson and Lee will be different players come Spring and (more importantly) next fall. So there's no telling who the best choice will be by then.

Bottom line, both of them have shown enough potential for me to be confident that we will have a pretty damn good QB by the time we hit Seattle.

And now you have.
We found out later that Aubbie was pretty terrible this year. Gotta ask yourself why we were behind to begin with, though.

The story that I saw/heard was that he started playing for his Dad as a JR but (as the other guy mentioned earlier) played at another school before then. I never bothered to check the veracity of this story because I think it is pretty meaningless.

The guy has had success (and many mistakes) playing a full season of SEC football (and starting most of it). That's speaks far more to me than any amount of high school or junior high experience, stats or highlights.

Jefferson has had some success (and way fewer mistakes) in much, much less time in SEC football. Right now, he's looked better than Lee, but we haven't seen a whole lot of him.

And, again, both of them will likely be different players by next season (remember how Ally Broussard was just going to be backing up Justin Vincent in '04?). So there's no telling who will be the best guy now, and any guesses who "the guy" will be next year now are just speculation that -- though potentially entertaining -- is ultimately pointless.

The point was that he absolutely did not play like a terrified child in the second half of that Auburn game. If you think he did, then you have clearly never seen a terrified child play QB.

Anytime I read someone suggesting that Lee "always" does anything, I cannot find any credibility in that person. The closest thing to an "always" about Jarrett Lee is that he was very nearly always inconsistent. He didn't "always" stare down receivers, or "always" throw into coverage, or "always" hit open receivers, or "always" react to the pass rush, or "always" give up a bad sack. He had good moments, series, even halfs (halves?). He also had many bad moments, series, etc. His bad ones have far outnumbered Jeffersons, but so has hit total playing time.

This really just seems to boil down to the old Rant tradition of Ranters being incapable of being positive about a starter and a backup for LSU. If they like Hester, they have to bash KW. If they like JaMarcus, they have to bash Flynn (or Randall, depending on the year). If they like Jefferson, they have to bash Lee.

I believe we have two freshmen QBs who have shown enough potential that either (or more likely both) could come back as a Sophomore and be the kind of QB that leads LSU back to the top.

Provided, of course, our defense shapes up . . .

JJ's first start he did enough to win against Arkansas. The defense let that one go.

Not sure what you mean by history repeating itself, but after the Peach Bowl, Flynn never started another game for one entire season.

JJ threw a pick in an OT with what appeared to be LSU's only shot at potentially playing in the BCS title game on the line?

Holy frick, I must have missed that game!

JJ played in 3 games and lost 2 of them. JL was 7 wins 4 losses which is better.

So you say Jefferson is the QB "on record" for the loss to Ole Miss???

You realize it was 21-3 late in the 2nd quarter when he came in right?
