This season is basically 2011 LSU baseball.

This one just happens to be after a natty instead of two years after.

Also JJ didn’t get lazy like PM who admitted as such.

I think we fire Yeski and a bunch of kids will be in the portal to be replaced and JJ will rip off 4 straight great seasons

Your lack of self-awareness is amazing.

LSU is a powerhouse in both football & baseball, and it shows that even when a coach is fired, the inherited players are still really good.

But eventually, it shows its head why the coaches were ultimately fired.

For Brian Kelly, it has shown in the defense & overall talent depth.

For Jay johnson, it’s showing in the recruiting gaps that PM had.

Both are very fixable but need more than a cycle or two. Will come quicker in baseball tho

JJ gets credit for last years season

but

he’s never coached in a conference nowhere near as great as the SEC, he’s coaching with the big boys

jury is still out if he can actually sustain a winning culture in this league

Yeah his Arizona teams whipped 2 SEC schools in the Supers but he can’t coach against great teams.

Let’s see- he took a shite team that was left with ZERO pitching and rose the back of Riley Cooper TWICE in consecutive years to get to a Super and win a CWS. His record at Arizona was excellent and he is a very good recruiter.

He was left with a VERY bad groups of Jrs that are still left from the last Cain/CPM class. Those that left LsU are few and far between if you can find any of them playing for a power 5 team and starting.

This is what happens with you’re playing a group of youngsters with one of if not the toughest conference schedules in the country for 5 straight weeks.

That was his first year. That team was built and developed by Andy Garcia. Two out of the next three seasons Arizona didn't even make the tournament.

okay but in his 2nd season i believe he was 1 cancelled game away from winning the toughest conference in college baseball. what he did in year one considering the lack of pitching was actually incredibly impressive. look who he had pitching that season.

i think LSU bounces back next season

That's true, TigerMac. I do hope and think he will turn things around, but his Arizona CWS Finals appearance was with the former coach's recruits, much like last year's LSU championship team.

He struck gold with Skenes and White in the portal, but the majority of the team was on campus when Jay arrived. We'll just have to see if he can build another championship team of his own. As of now, absolutely no one knows the answer to that.

I'd be shocked if he fires yeskie after one year.

Who gives a shite what he did at Arizona. The way he has mishandled this season with recruiting, transfers, and coaching hires will set us back for years at best.

Jay took Arizona to Omaha in his first season there. They finished second. In his second season they lost their regional. They then went three seasons (one cancelled due to COVID) without making a regional, before his last season when they went to Omaha. And that was in the PAC-12. And we're talking about a historically strong program. Arizona has 4 national championships.

Although he has had success, that doesn't exactly scream consistency. In fact it screams boom or bust. I'm not sure LSU fans will have much patience if we go through a similar drought.

It's the coach's job to make that happen. Everything that happens on the field is the responsibility of the coach. That goes for any sport.
