Jay Bilas on the LSU job after the departure of John Brady as head coach.

Does this ring true in your mind? I think major fluctuations for programs are natural more so in college hoops than in any other sport comparably. Look at Arkansas and Michigan, in particular.

Arky was a national power under Nolan Richardson in the early-mid nineties but has fallen off the map since then under Stan Heath and John Pelphrey. They may finally reappear in the NCAA Tourney this season under Mike Anderson after a six year hiatus.

Michigan was a power under Steve Fisher during the fab five days of the early nineties. They fell off the map for a while didn't appear in the NCAAs for 11 years between 98-09. Starting to reascend to their prior stature now under John Beilein.

Same as Florida. We have the money and fanbase to support a top tier BB program. If we had a Billy Donovan we'd be just like Florida.

I just think that if you aren't a blue blood type finding that kind of coach can be more difficult. Plus the NBA one and done thing, blah blah. It's very possible IMO. Just need some stars to align

Somewhat off topic but I always wondered what the hate for Brady was all about. I didn't consider him a top 20 coach but he had a couple of decent years at LSU & a final 4 run but he never seem to connect to the LSU fanbase. A lot of people I met despised him. His attitude did come off somewhat cocky and unapproachable.

Bandwagon motherfrickers we are. If they sucked there would be just parents and maybe some dude with his hand in his pants there.

If we put a championship caliber golf team out there, the course would be littered with potential golf cart DUI's

Just how we roll. And I'm one of them

An insufferable prick who, when his seat got warm, would do just enough to save his job for another year.

Eventually, he wound up pissing off the wrong people.

Might of been the fact he had 3 season above .500 in SEC play in 11 years.

It's no longer a to 20 program. TV had crippled SEC basketball. Kentucky and Florida have survived cause they are national programs and recruit nationally.
