And....is apparently only 6' 1" What an overachiever!

quote:

Memphis Grizzlies forward Jarell Martin said at his introductory press conference on Monday that he sustained a stress fracture in his foot.

quote:

Martin said at the press conference that he will sit out of summer league to rest after he “overworked my body throughout this whole [draft] process.”

The 6'1" forward said he went through rehab on his foot in the lead up to the draft and will continue to do so during the summer.

I wonder if the fracture was disclosed prior to the draft?

He has his NBA contract. He will be on the bench as soon as he is cleared to play.

It pretty much doesn't at all, but keep trying. You'll get there.

whatever you say. martin was going to be fighting for a spot on the active roster regardless. not playing in the summer league with all the other players fighting at his position is not going to help his case. you either a) don't know anything about memphis' situation or b) don't know how the nba works

plenty of people who play in the d-league have contracts. that doesn't mean they are on the active roster. jarnell stokes has a 2.5 million contract with memphis and spent most of last year in the d league

Very true. I don't think it would be a bad spot for him if he isn't getting PT in Memphis. But if he can get PT in Memphis he will be there. No one wants to have a 1st round pick not getting PT. Fans hate that.

memphis fans weren't thrilled with the martin pick tbqh. but given he's not a lottery pick and wouldn't play much regardless, no one would be too upset about letting him get PT in the d league. jordan adams spent almost the entirety of last season in the d league and was the 22nd overall pick. on a veteran team, it's usually better for rookies to go that route

the grizzlies are just going to roll the ball out and fight teams next year. I can't wait for the playoffs.

I was wondering because I started a thread about seeing him in the ATL airport with a boot on his foot and it got whacked quickly. I wasn't sure why.
