The Oakland Raiders benched former No. 1 overall pick JaMarcus Russell on Wednesday, handing the starting job to journeyman Bruce Gradkowski for the foreseeable future.

If your turning to Gradkowski, your franchise is in big trouble.

The League needs to force Al Davis out.

Its pretty amazing what Miles did with this team in 06. All the great players he supposedly had seem pretty shitty now.

Talk about coaching them up

I said it when he was at LSU and I'll say it now...Jamarcus Russell was great for LSU but is not an NFL-caliber QB. The norm was for him to hit wide open receivers who adjusted to bad throws rather than for him to thread the needle and get completions to receivers who were not open.

Who cares...SFP is an idiot who is the poster child for ignorant college football fans. SFP and his fellow Miles-haters would just as soon see LSU lose lots of games so that they can see Miles go and they can turn to irrationally hating the successor.

Great fans...

He could nail a quick slant though.

JR is behind a shitty line, playing with rookie receivers in the most fricked up organization in football. He could help himself out a lot by doing a few situps and eating some salads. But let's face it, he was doomed on draft day and everyone knew it.

JR starting to equal, dare I say it, Ryan Leaf.

Antonio Moss, come panty-sniff for your boy!

No. He's smart and he knows his football. He just gets carried away sometimes with arguing his favorite causes just for the fun of arguing.

If JR had been drafted by a real franchise he would have had a better chance of succeeding.

Perhaps, but he'd still be a bust. If I saw one wide open LSU receiver adjust to a bad throw I've seen a hundred.

JR has the problem of having his pocket being occupied by the d-line and linebackers, or tripping over the bodies of his own o-line that are at his feet. He could definitely loose about 30 lbs that don't do him any favor when he needs to move around.

It is still very early for JR...Don't over-conclude at this stage of the game.

Many start off rough in their careers, and then catch fire and "get it", and then look out

Time will tell. Hope he gets back on track and gets another chance in the near future.

I love JR but I have to admit he had enough time to prove himself. He really has been a disappointment.

I like JR but when you sign for millions and show up fat and out of shape you deserve what you get

The entire Raiders receiving core made "C'mon man!" this past Monday night. Even those analyst who are always on JR said as much as they felt sorry for him shouldering the blame. Calling JR a bust while he is on the Raiders is like saying Archie sucked because the Saints were so bad.
