Let’s call it what it was. A processing. Wade processed cook to bring in Murray, Miller, justice and pinson, in addition to keeping Gaines. There just wasn’t room for cook on this roster apparently.

Hind sight is 20/20 for sure, could not foresee injuries, but his ability to shoot the ball would definitely elevated this team.

Last season Gaines got PT over Cook. You could tell Wade liked Gaines better.

Time line
April 12 Pinson announces to LSU
April 25 Cook enters transfer portal
May 1 Miller announces to LSU
June 17 Justice commits to LSU

Cook apparently knew where he stood.

As an aside, I saw Seneca Knight play for the first time last night for BYU against Gonzaga. He was pretty doggone good. I believe he definitely would have scored some points on this team. Not sure why he transferred, but it was pretty quick.

If that's what it was, we could have used Cook's shooting and ability to create shots. He has only had one game this year where he scored under 10. That's tough to do against anyone. And he is shooting 43% from 3 and 50+% from 2 just as he did in his limited time playing for LSU last year.

He shot 2/8 from 2 and 1/7 from 3 for 13 points. Most points came from the foul line.

Basically chose Gaines over Cook. With injuries it turned out to be iffy choice. But Gaines was penciled in as 3rd point option . I think Wade knew he couldn’t beat anybody good with Gaines playing 30+ minutes

Because WW is not that good in evaluating talent, that really is the one reason why he did not play more

I posted about that as well. James bishop and Charles manning are also having great seasons. Hard to say manning isn’t an upgrade over fudge, and bishop and cook over Williams at this point.

The AAC is a good basketball conference this year and Tulane has been absolutely cooking for the past few weeks. If you could remove Houston from the equation, they’d have a real-world chance of stealing a bid by running through the AAC tournament

Cook and Wilkinson played good together. He would be a huge difference maker this season

Actually he just doesn't play out of control as much as Wade would like.

If we could remove Alabama from the equation LSU easily has one more NC, if not more.

Cook wasn't as erratic with his decision making as Gaines, from what I remember.
He has 34 less turnovers on the year, and a lower turnover average.

Still think neither would have started over Pinson & Miller, without injuries. That extra experience is just too valuable.

I think Cook might have provided a calmer, steadier hand at PG while filling in, but Idk if he'd be lighting up the scoreboard.
Gaines has done an admirable job, but he shouldn't be in this position.

This is what’s funny. LSUs best player is an AAC transfer.

And Tulane has 3 guys that would be LSU’s 2-4 best players after Eason if they were on LSU’s team this year.

He’s not anything. He reads the room and then says the opposite. There are no original thoughts.
