We do, especially the number attached, but there wouldn't be this much smoke if there weren't at least some phone calls made.

1. How do you know this.

2. How did Herbie screw everything up by reporting it?

Would Arkansas really want a coach that thinks it's pronounced Ar-Kansas?

WTF?

If Miles had already told the team, then why did Herbie breaking the story affect anything? The only reason for Miles to act that way was to protect his team. If they already knew, then it didn't matter.

My roommate at the time worked with JD Lott and he had told my roommate that miles had told them all he was leaving.

This was after the Arkansas game and before the seccg.

Me thinks your roommate had a need to feel important.

Money talks but I could see Miles being the type of guy to stick around regardless if we match or not.

Why should he? Half the fans don't like him or appreciate him.

I'll listen to your comments, but Les got the extension from LSU on Friday night. If Miles thought he was leaving earlier in the week, then maybe so. But no sane coach ever tells his team that he is leaving while they still have games to play.

Bill Frieder with Michigan basketball in 1988 was the last.

I just find it hard to believe that there is any truth to that. Would have gotten out eventually.

First, coaches don't make decisions on popularity contests. Second, Miles gets plenty of love by the LSU fans. Amazes me that fans think that message board posts influence coaches.

I don't know absolute facts, but the way I heard it he told the team "guys, I'm probably staying." Sounds like your roomie may have embellished a bit.

Just seems like a PR move by Akansas's part. They have been rumored to be turned down behind closed doors by a few top candidates, so they change the conversation by making an over-the-top, public offer to Miles. It keeps Arky coaching search relevant for a positive reason, and IF miles takes it they get a coach that has a proven track record.

The fact that it was "scooped" by SbB seems to support that. The guy has enough followers to get the word out there, but doesn't exactly have a reputation of credibility to make it seem 100% believable.
