LSU has to go to Athens, to Tuscalousa, and has home games with Florida and Texas A&M, plus they have TCU in Dallas to open. The D will be young. Metz is nothing more than a mediocre QB, and in all likelyhood the top RB is gone. They are breaking in a new system with a new OC.

10-2 would be a shocker, much less a NC.

Look for 9-3. 10-2 would be lagniappe.

You know how many people had ND playing in Miami at this time last year?

Not everyone who says LSU is in decline is simply trying to stir the pot. OTOH, if he was giving an interview on a Louisiana media outlet (WWL) then he probably was just trying to be controversial. "I don't see that happening" vs "a ticket" is respecting your audience vs being a smartass.

Fact is, LSU has to win all their games to get to the MNC regardless of Maizel's opinion.

Didn't we do 10-2 last year with less experience on the o-line, at QB, and at LB? We should be better overall at DB (We lost 2, but now we have 5 with significant game experience (Eugene, Thompson, Mills, Collins, Loston).

Really hope the guys can stay healthy this year. The OL injuries were tough to deal with. Stud should get more appreciation for the job he did. Now that he is full time on OL, I'm expecting a very good unit.

When asked what it would take for LSU to get into the National Championship game, he said quickly "A Ticket".

It's kind of a stupid question anyway because the answer's obvious...beat all the teams on your schedule

You should have stopped here.

avoid injuries, and hope you have a little luck as the season goes on.

Because even if you don't avoid injuries and don't get lucky you'll go to the BCS Championship if you win all your games.

Didn't have to play at Georgia

Didn't have to play TCU in a defacto road game.

Got Alabama at home, and lost.

Lost to a Florida, who is better this year.

Beat Texas A&M before A&M became A&M. If LSU has A&M late instead of early, they lose that game.

Oh, and Auburn will be better. Arkansas will be better. Ole Miss will be better.

A team cannot lose what this team lost on defense and there not be a transition period.

he's from Mobile, graduate of Bama, covered Bama as a sportswriter, and a BIG Bama fan! he has always been a big LSU hater, especially on his previous radio show!

Maisel doesn't see it that way since he's been out west a long time now but it does come across from our side of the fence... if there's a value judgment to be made he'll err against LSU based on his opinions in general. For example prior to 2011 he was one who pointed out LSU had a lot of close games they could have lost in 2010 (concluding from this LSU was likely to slip and lose more games in 2011)

offensive and defensive uncertainty...schedule...extreme youth...tough ooc opener at neutral site...sabama on the road. it's not a stretch to say LSU has little or no shot at a BCS title in '13.

improvise, adapt...overcome.
