Again, I don't claim to know for sure either way, and I'm not embarking on a research project to prove something I don't know. However, here's one thing as a counterpoint.

quote:

Miles was offered the Michigan job in 2010 during a visit from then-Michigan Athletic Director Dave Brandon in Baton Rouge, Bertman said. Bertman wasn’t the athletic director in 2010 but had a grasp on the situation

Definitive? No. But an assertion from someone I would consider credible, at least.

I have found his use of QBs to be odd to say the least. Or maybe more accurate would be his lack of getting good QBs to come to LSU. Mett was an UGA washout. He does not give playing time to backups when doing so would very likely help their development e.g. Mett his first year at LSU. His handling of the JJ/Lee situation was strange to say the least culminating in the most bizarre game plan/execution I have ever seen in a championship. He repeated that, in my opinion, this year with AJ and BH. It is not like AJ was even average. He was dead last by a long way in the SEC. Poor QB play has been a recurring factor in a large percentage of LSU losses which prevent it from competing for SEC titles and more. Judge for yourself, but what he did with AJ and BH this year makes no sense to me.

I disagree with your opinion about "sane administrators". They have a program to run, promote and grow. Having a wishy washy coach who repeatedly toys with leaving for his alma mater at some point becomes destructive to those ends. No reason not to make it clear to LM that "we want you, but if you have thoughts of leaving, we need to know now so we can get some one to keep things going and, God forbid, win the SEC West. Why would you not do so?

Really? What if fans stop supporting the team financially? Would you still be of the same opinion? If there is no truth to the rumors he has an imperative to let that be known. He owes it to the school, the admin, his staff, the players and himself. By not speaking he lends credibility to the rumors. Let me ask you, who benefits from that?
