and I hope it doesn't come to that.

scenario - we lose a couple more games early and we let miles retire during the season. then let Cameron have the interim tag.

not wishing for it - just saying. this debate has raged for years. We would actually get to see what happens.

We need to start a go fundme and pay one of the team equipment managers to disable the Mic in Les' headset and play the last weeks game over the headphones for him. And let Cam call his game.

After Saturday I'm completely convinced that it's not the play calling that's the issue. It's the QB. The play calling completely changed when Etling was in there. A lot more motion, misdirection, delays, screens, etc.

Etling just made the progressions better

...if Les Miles retires and leaves a $12.5M buyout on the table, he's stupider than all his detractors ever said he was.

Seemed like the playbook opened up a little too though

but no one really knows. I know there are some awfully strong opinions out there.

one soundscrazy but is based on observations on a twelve year history - the other sounds smart because there is no way to believe a man who has attained this level of success and position could be this hard-headed and incapable of adaptation.

It would likely come down to a settlement.

"Okay Les, retire and we'll give you 8 million. You've saved face and you're out from the pressure cooker."

It doesn't matter, the engine (OL) sucks and when that happens QB and receivers suck as well. You should ask how do we fix the OL.

I sure as hell don't have a definite answer but no, we've never run those misdirection runs like we did when Etling played.

It's not that hard to understand. The play calling is being formed around a QBs skill set. The anger should be at playing the wrong guy instead of who is calling the plays. The offensive formations were totally different when Etling was in.
