I agree with you OP. I was high on this team before the season, but after a lackluster beginning I started to become real pessimistic seeing other teams successful. BH brings new life into this program. And while I don't expect a W this weekend, I think this is the turning point in this season.

I love how some people just can't wait to shite all over optimism.
I didn't say a word about our wins and losses going forward.
All I said is there's a distinct feeling of hope after what we saw BH do on Saturday night.

I'm sure there's some psychological theory that explains forcing yourself to have low expectations to safeguard yourself from disappointment. And if that's how you live your life, fine. It's probably not your fault.

But a bit of advice for those who insist on smugly discounting the enthusiasm of others, it makes you look like miserable fricks.

Guava, they're not "miserable fricks." They're just "realists that refuse to look through p/g glasses!"

No doubt. If BH struggles the narrative will be "Well Miles didn't get him reps early enough!"

I agree with this. I don't know shite about talent evaluation, etc. but I really thought Harris would be the starter after leaving the Spring game. Him being announced as the starter this week has infused excitement, no doubt. He really needs the OL to step it up this week. I'm actually nervous for him but he seems to be ready for the spotlight.

I honestly would take 7-5 as long as one of the 7 was Bama

It honestly does feel that way. So much young talent on this team and they all seem more enthusiastic as well.

I do believe that a segment of the fanbase will blame Miles if BH struggles. No doubt.

No "they" won't. "They" never shat on Jennings. "They" just recognized that Harris was a better fit for the QB role on this team than Jennings before Miles was willing to make the switch. You are conflating fan Les Miles frustration with shitting upon the QB on the field. The fans love Jennings and his commitment the team. The fans just hate not playing the best player(s).

the same people on this board who say they expect Harris to make early mistakes as part of growing into the role are forgetting/conveniently ignoring that hes already been doing this for 10 weeks. being the "best" qb now does not mean he was the "best" to start vs Wisconsin.

you can ignore the 1 series vs them because nothing really happened. Jennings however had an excellent second half in a tough situation. Harris looked better vs SHS but still fumbled two plays in a row. the next week vs ULM, Jennings was 11-18, 1TD, no INT.

None of this screams out that Harris is "better" at QB. He's getting better every week, he's clearly more talented and always has been, which might be the only thing this board has actually agreed on in 5 years. he can simply do things most other QBs cant, which is why Miles said all summer that we would play early and often, and that is exactly whats happened.

if playing QB was simply about throwing the ball, then those guys who make trick shot videos on youtube would all be starting in the NFL. Andrew Luck never made on of those videos.

"The fans (who) just hate not playing the best players" should be reminded that the whole thing about "Miles is so stubborn he'll play upperclassman over freshman who are obviously better" was at its peak in 2008 when they wanted him to start jordan jefferson. he had the "it" factor too.

not that I think Harris is jordan 2 in any way, and I have been and always will be optimistic about this team, but some of the reasons people have to dislike Miles are things that simply dont exist.
