Interesting post from November 2016. The first poster that suggested Matt Canada for Offensive Coordinator was largely downvoted. How times have changed!

Ideas for OC

Same rant that went crazy about the idea of Tom Herman or Jimbo Fisher coming here, and then when Coach O was hired, they immediately said Herman and Fisher suck, same rant?

That's the one.

Canada may kill it here, but his career has been largely average.

I thought that the LSU environment would never go for someone like Matt Canada. There is the mindset that we have to have the guy thats proven himself at a power 5 school and is just making his way to a bigger school. I was pleasantly surprised.

To be honest, I was all about Tom Herman coming here and was completely disappointed when CEO was hired.....until he hired Matt Canada. That was the moment I gave him a chance bc it seemed like he knew his limitations and wanted to make the best choices in the interests for the team.

So far, I think CEO has made the right decisions for the team. I'll wait until I see how he leads the team during and after the season, but at this point, I'm at least giving him the benefit of the doubt and will keep my criticisms to myself.

Largely average is still 10x better than what LSU has had for offensive coaching the past 4 years.

Why are we comparing the future to the guy that was just fired?

That's a good way to go downhill quickly

After clicking on the link, it looks like that thread was started after the 1st quarter of the Pitt-Clemson game. And the OP called Clemson "Clemmy".

I'm assuming the downvotes had more to do with the thread itself than Canada.

Honestly, it doesn't matter until we see results. I have a wait and see approach. I'm cautiously optimistic but you can also call me a skeptic. We don't need to be giving the ball to offensive tackles. We have plenty of skill players. Gimmicks are cheap and usually required when you don't match up well. Pre-snap motion is fine but don't take the kids legs from them with being excessive in it's use. I haven't seen it so maybe it's not as exhausting as it sounds. We'll see. I certainly wouldn't want to go back to the Stone Age offense we had under Miles so it has to be an improvement. I'm not drinking the Kool Aid yet either.

Huh? What the hell, All I'm saying is that largely average like you just stated will be a major improvement for the LSU offense. And what are you talking about downhill?.

You're right, average would probably be fine. But 70% of this board thinks Canada is our saving grace, because we're using Les as the comparison.

I'm skeptical, but hopeful.

A "largely average" OC or coach with LSU level talent can do a lot of damage. Just look at what Hallman did with one great player.
