As a wise little short Fricker once said... "It's not the X's and O's...It's about the Jimmy's and Joe's! (He's won a few Championships, Might know the right Premise to consistent winning)
You want to know why you smug know-it-alls can sit on this board with your arrogant-entitled opinions about this now great Program, (which blessed lately has been truly one of 5 elites)= Recruiting over the last 9 years! The players, not coaching... Just see what happened when recruiting at a few key positions declined??? Mediocrity.
We've barely maintained our status solely on the backs of great players, not coaches.
What will Coach O give us? hmmm = his picture just may be beside the word "recruiting" in the dictionary! He is truly the recruiting Icon(for better or worse). And bonus, I believe his motivation = team first winning, bows to his position coaches being successful standing on their own. He doesn't need the Validation... What new hot-shot OC or DC wouldn't want to be hired into that position. Plus I think he just may be a "G-damn genius" haha; Good days are here and LSU football is fun again!
Believe me, When we know we gave it all and didn't F it up through ignorance/arrogance/hard headedness... even Losing a game or two won't hurt quite as bad. Some of you children don't deserve it but, Lucky To Have O!

It would help if we didn't still have five threads a day on here about if he was a good hire or not.

nah it'll take much longer than that. We have to see if he can sustain it and not flop if he loses his coordinators

We are "lucky" to have Aranda. That feels "lucky". I am excited about the Canada hire. So , lucky to have Aranda and excited to have Canada.

Orgeron should share these feelings , as well.

Why do some of you have such a hard time with the proper use of apostrophes?

Yea 5 threads with half of the passive aggressive little respondent starting from the premise. that the man is here just to "luckily"/blindly hire coordinators.... Just tired of seeing it, and I won't accept that starting point any more. Example from potential recruits opinions: He remembers every recruits family members' name.... ie. They matter to him. It's not a front,

im gonna pull for lsu and wish O nothing but success. i'll never pull against them just for the sake of being right. i'll praise him when they perform and heave insults when they f up. once I deem someone's time has passed ( ie miles nov 2015 ), then i'll change my tune. even if it means pulling for a loss for the greater good. I guess insults are a decent argument/point when you are 12 yo. but facts are nice in the grown up world... and the "Snow Flake Grammar Police" retort needs to be used only when a safe space is readily available! Punks haha

Actually, it diminishes your credibility when you can't follow even the most rudimentary grammatical rules. You speak of acting like an adult and facts, and yet you write on a third grade level.

We had a HC that literally no one else of importance wants...and nOw we have a HC that literally no one else of importance wants.

That's an assessment, not a judgment.

Let's pray that O's binder of miracles is for real.

We had a national championship, played for another, an undefeated regular season and SEC titles. Thank goodness WE didn't have your great assessment skills. Here's hoping history repeats!

Yup.

Also, that's a "when" situation. Great coordinators don't often stick around for too long.

If Ed walked into my house, followed by Les, I'd want to go play football for Ed. Add to that, the fact that Ed is now at the wheel for LSU, and there's no limit to how successful we can be with Ed as our head coach. The people who are upset about Ed are the ones that got mad that we fired a guy who couldn't get us in the SEC Championship game anymore, couldn't run the offense, couldn't manage the clock, and was on the decline for years.

Well, this just isn't true at all. Not even remotely.

Perhaps not, but every year there seems to be a list of the next great coordinators. Hell, there were pages of debate about who LSU should get as the next OC-- Kiffin, Sark, Briles 1 and/or 2, Canada, etc. Seems LSU would be even more attractive for these great coordinators bc "everyone knows O got the job bc of his accent." Therefore the coordinators will be viewed as geniuses and have tremendous opportunity to move up. Seems to be a sustainable model.

I'm not saying he won't be successful, but in what is this eternal optimism based? His record at Ole Miss?
