Not sure where the saying came from. It obviously is a metaphor of some kind, not involving actual rain..because during the S. Carolina game of 2007 there was an absolute downpour in TS.

No it's actually not. And yes it actually means that it never rains in tiger stadium.

Obviously it is not literal, it's just part of folk lore to get the crowd involved

not sure but I always thought it was a reference to the tigers are coming at you no matter what.. Unlike a rain delay in baseball... Nothing is going to stop your decent into eternal damnation for the next 4 hours, welcome to death valley

He mustve missed the 88 game against Miami

My first game in Tiger Stadium. The game was brutal and the weather even worse.

I was a 17yr old high school senior from New Iberia in 1979 when Lsu played #3 Bama on Nov 10 and I bought 2 tickets at 4pm for $80a ticket vowing never to tell anyone what I had done(my mother would have killed me) but me and my GF where in....6pm the clouds to the North didn't look to good I decuded ti sell and sold to Bama fans for $100 a ticket and went with GF to Gino's... well about 645 it came a turd flood! They where giving away tickets at 7:15 #3 Bama won 3-0 and the myth That It NEVER RAINS IN TIGER STADIUM went out the door for me!

And back then the kickoff was at 8pm.

Actually, it was 7:30 for many years until they changed to 7:00 p.m. because of the need to get the results in earlier for voting on the polls, and to make the eastern time zone news and morning newspapers.

All my life I heard it Never Rains in Tiger Stadium, I think that the '79 year we had a couple of games in which it rained in Tiger Stadium. All the old timers could not believe and said even as the rain was coming down it would stop before the game started and then they could say it never rained during a game. LSU also used two quarterbacks back then, current assistant coach Steve Ensminger and the late David Woodley.

We hired Bo Rein and he died before ever coaching a game, hence it never rains

I remember one game when it rained over most of BR but not Tiger Stadium.

I always thought that was the origin. One time it was raining all over BR but for whatever reason the stadium stayed dry. That's the story I heard.
