Tennessee did the same thing

He had a decent game against Tennessee. He had more passing yards than Hendon Hooker at halftime.

He did have a better game...he had more bounce to him but he still couldnt get himself to push it and YAC helped the stats...that game was more of a desperate play calling issue

I think Charlie Hanagriff had the best summary of what happened on Sat:

A) Barry Odom is a great DC and did a hell of a job scheming a gameplan for the defense.
B) It wasn't until the Florida game that Denbrock got it out of Daniels' head to quit worrying about not turning the ball over to the point of regulating his own passing. Once Daniels finally threw a pick that he was so geeked out on not doing, he finally reached a point of "screw it" in his head and started making more throws rather than being solely focussed on not turning the ball over.
C) Keeping B in mind, he throws a weird int early in the game and then fumbles it on the next drive. So now he goes back into anxiety "I can't turn the ball over" mode that we saw pre-Florida.
D) Denbrock recognized this and also recognized that we could be sort of conservative and still the move the ball on them, and fall back on our defense.

I think A-D is relevant to what happened on Saturday. I'm not saying you're wrong at all, makes complete sense to me. But I am saying that it was a series of things ton consider that I think will be left behind in Fayetteville and we will see more of the later part of the season version of JD rather than the early part version over these next few games.

Have no idea why that got a downvote but it seems very plausible to me.

This conclusion doesnt make sense...your are ignoring or excusing the points made from A to D. We had thought it was solved after Auburn mainly but...

Today CBK said the coaches needed to make better adjustments once they saw what the D was doing. Looking at Skycast view, damn never every pass play was long routes. Yes, JD missed some reads, but it is confusing that they aren't hitting routes underneath and shorter to get the ball out of his hands quickly.

LOL, we just want to see LSu succeed and win.

Jd isn't beyond criticism. Hell, even Bryce Young has received some criticism and all he do is make play after play.

There are looks that JD struggle with. BK pretty much admitted that the coaching staff thought JD held the ball and didn't trust what he was seeing. It was obvious to fans and many in the media.

You can tell JD trust his feet more than his arm/vision. He holds the ball longer than he should because he thinks he can escape pressure, however he needs to learn to throw the ball away. A great deal of his sacks come from him holding the ball too long OR getting happy feet and running "into" pressure. He also could do himself a huge favor if he learned to use his checkdown more often. Our RB's are easily open in the flat and JD rarely looks their way.

Actually now I think he is holding onto the ball way to long ( more than 3.5 secs).

You know why. Lots of closet Nuss love on this board, Anything that tries to explain why JD had a bad game other than "that's who he's always been" is frowned upon.

Yep, we get into this habit of throwing it on 1st down way to much. Eventually we started leaning on the running game but when we’re at our best we’re running it, using designed runs for JD and getting him in 3rd and short to medium range.

all of the OP seems accurate.

shame on denbrock for not adjusting the playcalling too

He's not what I expected him to be thus far. Frustrating at times for sure.
