Is Wades philosophy kind of like money ball in baseball?

He's deep into analytics just don't know how comparable the two are. Especially when money isn't involved. I could see it similar with trying to build a team with a few 1 or 2 and done stars surrounded by competent role players.

Probably not very comparable at all.

Sounds more like a Chip Kelly (wearables, nutrition, sleep routines) than Theo Epstein (game analytics)

He's not known as a good recruitor and has very few connections. He'll get a bunch of three star player or if we are lucky a Louisiana 4 star that wants to stay close to home. There is nothing wrong with that, because I'd take a team of senior led 3 stars over a team with 4 and 5 star freshmen like Auburn has had under Pearl.

Love the slogan he adopted at VCU and hope it encapsulates his coaching philosophy and the style of basketball our Tigers will play:
"Chance favors the aggressor"

So, you were listening to Moscona interview the Richmond, VA sports writer huh?

That guy used the term "sabermetrics".

I for one am in the "pump the brakes" crowd. I think Wade brings a ton of aggressiveness to the defensiive side of the ball. However, I've watched his teams and IMHO they tend to play a little recklessly on offense with not much of a plan in the halfcourt.

But then again we're used to seeing that sort of offense. At least our defense will be improved and LSU basketball will at least be somewhat competitive again. He'll get more out of them than JJ.

I don't live in BR and haven't listened to BR local radio since 02. It's the fact he didn't play the sport but approaches it analytically kind of like Epstein.

That's what Money Ball is.

Doesn't he have a 4* power forward committed to VCU?

I think he will do fine here

money ball is about no bunting, sacrifice flys or moving the runner over. it's about not taking and paying for high draft picks and shopping for bargains and for taking college players over high school players. it's also about getting rid of the best players when their "servitude time" is over (minimum pay) and they are ready for their first big time contract.

his statistical analysis is way over rated and really mostly done by all of the other clubs also. so, unless Wades cares about OBP over batting average and no bunting there is no correlation between basketball and baseball.

He has VCU 21st in recruiting

He bagged 2 ESPN top 100 4 stars this season

He also added another 4 star last season.
