I doubt Jones will thumb his nose at the NCAA or his fellow coaches which seems to be the common denominator for an NCAA basketball investigation these days (Dale, Pearl etc.). It seems that the NCAA is content to keep their head in the sand unless you call them out or other coaches want to rat you out.
Yeah, something about constantly comparing the NCAA to Nazi war criminals who killed millions of innocent people tends to get folks a bit mad at you.
You're right, Johnny ain't gonna do that. We don't have the entrenched and decades old systems of say a Bama or the Big Blue Wall at Kentucky to shield our coaches in the cloak of plausible deniability to the degree these empires of cheating do, but we do still have some of the folks from Dale's day that got pretty good at it and will probably be more than willing to partake again.
Personally it would sadden me if indeed we do have to resort to that. The "everybody else does it" mantra doesn't make it any more palatable for me.
I would hope we would try the high road, but I'm not naive.

Is there any more scary and arrogant character than Worldwide Wes in the annals of athletics.
SI wrote a puff piece on Calipari a few months back and actually made Wes out to be a sympathetic character. I wrote a letter to the editor ripping them for it that of course didn't make the cut.

Like I said earlier I hope they have already figured out how to cover their tracks, because that is where they massively failed before.

possible, but this goes directly against LSU's way of operating the last 20 years

this is exactly what we don't want to do. The NCAA will look the other way with UK because they are one of the "chosen" programs. LSU will get their asses nailed to the wall like the Lester earl debacle.

he's an information and relationship broker
WWW is just an interesting guy/story. he's become the epitome of "it's not what you know, but who you know" in american culture. he befriended the right people and got in with shoe companies just as they were starting to dominate AAU. then he gets in tight with a lot of high profile agents (through the NBA players who he's friends with) perfect storm

randy as bag man and jones as closer is infinitely better than johnson in recruiting but im hoping he brings along a good #1 to help with the bench coaching.
let's get some dirt on our hands!

jones is the choice of CT and the "good ole boys," and it seems to me that this is a signal that they're trying to get the machine rolling again to ramp up our mediocre recruiting
I don't see what that has to do with Johnny Jones.
They could have hired any number of other coaches and still "gotten dirty".

If you're resigned to playing dirty you have to shield yourself like Cal. That's why Vitale and all those folks can rally for Cal and say he was never implicated at Memphis or UMASS. There's a system of checks and balances to protect.
After this statement I'll try to refrain anymore from giving my opinion on where Dale was in that regard because I think it's a bit irresponsible on my part to do so and I've gone too far, but I think you see in Redfield Bryan being left to twist that there was some of that in place here, we just weren't as sophisticated and polished at it.

This day and age you can get caught and "investigate" to where all that turns up are Phone calls. Advances in technology, AAU programs and street agents, and loop holes make basketball one giant clusterfrick that the NCAA has lost control of. Name the last program that received a "nail in the coffin" so to speak. Grades get changed, money changes hands, and recruits have their pockets filled. That's just the basketball we have today.

Last time we were sucking in football and Dale was calling them the gestapo. Now we make the NCAA a crapload of money in football and due to that they aint gonna come sniffing around unless we give them a public reason to which Jones aint gonna do. They didnt come look at USC till yahoo forced them to. Same thing with Cam. Roy boy has been cheating for years at KU and UNC they dont come round because he keeps an aw shucks personality and makes them money.
