In my opinion... All things considered? Not the best, but certainly up there. Defensively? Maybe the best. In terms of covering the outfield and robbing hits? No question about it.

Guys, Im pretty sure the OP is talking DEFENSIVELY. If strictly defense, then it's Stevenson by quite a bit. It's not about the circus catches, it's about range and instincts. Stevenson has more range AND instincts the anyone Ive ever seen in college.

The OP is talking defensively

Stevenson is better than everyone that you listed, and the only one who has a slight argument is Landry.

Stevenson better than Landry.

Landry took some bad angles and had more unnecessary dives for balls than Stevenson, which says a lot.

Hitting this year & fielding makes Stevenson the
GOAT Centerfielder of ALL-Time. Landry is
Right there as GOAT 2 but with a plus arm.

Yes, figured this thread was started already. If it wasn't I was going to.

Best outfielder ever to play at LSU IMHO

I coach his little brother for travel ball, he is a damn good ball player and he is die hard for LSU

which has nothing whatsoever to do with how Andrew plays outfield. Congrats though

Mahtook but Stevie isnt shabby

Mahtook may be all around a more appealing ball player but Stevenson is a better fielder than Mahtook was. Stevenson does things a lot of people don't respect because of how easy he makes it look. There is not much that touches the ground on him and the only thing he seems to dive for are stand up doubles and triples on just about any other fielder. Amazing speed and amazing vision depending on what his bat does he will be very sought after.

He and Leon are neck and neck

No they're not. Stevenson makes plays with great reads and jumps, with great speed, and with great finishes. No one at LSU has done it as consistently as him.

and, as others have clarified, I'm not including offense.

why not? He is hitting .368, .420 OB% with 53 runs, 21 rbi and 26 stolen bases this year

Why would you leave that out?

Not in the same league as Stevenson defensively.

I can kind of see how only because of the type of hits he has over the year, I know they all look the same on paper but they may not transition into the next level. He has been a very quiet leading hitter this year which has been awesome.

In this conversation I'm don't care about the next level. I'm talking about in his time at LSU.

I think he is defensively the best player we have ever had I think he is amazing offensively I was only saying that others may be doubtful because he is not the sparkly offensive stud like others we have had.
