Espn covering the college world series for 2 weeks out of the year and cbs broadcasting the championship game on a saturday afternoon in june by no means makes it mainstream.

well of course they're gonna cover the CWS... i think more of a tipping point was the 2001 Super Regional at Zephyr Field... after that ESPN gradually started covering the Super Regionals, then Bases Loaded, and now damn near every game is on an ESPN network

Can't compare Dedeaux to Skip due to the eras which they dominated. It would be like comparing Lombardi to Belichek. Lombardi had the luxury of not dealing with salary cap and able to keep his players without threat of other teams offering more, Belichek has maintained success with constant roster during the past 15 years. Dedeaux took advantage of the situation and Skip learned to dominate under tougher regulations. They both went into the inaugural Hall of Fame class indicating that they were both the best from their time.

Dedoux won 11 titles at USC do yo homework. Skip, and Auggie would be tied for 2nd.

Dedeaux , then Skip. Auggie were both about equal.

not even the same galaxy. no competition back then. college baseball didn't become what it is today until the mid-'80s. and it's gotten a lot better since then, even.
and he won 10 at southern cal.

Dedeaux won 11 titles with unlimited, literally, scholarships. Against mabe 10 good teams around the country. Give Augie, Skip, even Polk those dynamics & all 3 would have won more. I did my homework. Picture Skip able to recruit 15 Joey Belle types, Polk 15 Thunder & Lightings. Then let him recruit pitchers on top of those rosters. Then let them play against 10 teams all season long, including Omaha. Dedeaux was a great coach, but under Skip & Polk's rules, would he have won 11?

Have to agree. Skip put LSU on the baseball map and is a god in these parts but Dedeaux's numbers are insane and IMO, unchallenged.
