Isn't this how life works anyway? If you suck at your job, you get fired. Fortunately for him, he has a $$ cushion to soften the blow if he gets canned.

I don't see the problem with him 'coaching for his job', all coaches should be doing the same.

If he beats Alabama, we keep him just to reduce that buy-out.

If during a kickoff they kick another one out of bounds, he should be escorted out of the stadium.

with some on here, his job has been on the line every week since his arrival in '05.

but it's serious now. our next loss will probably crash this board (imo, that would be a good thing).

however, if the adm. wait 'till seasons end to evaluate (or announce) then the whole season will be considered. the problem is that's what they did last year and it blew up in their faces. my experience is that people don't repeat behavior that did that. so they may fire him early.

Every game since the day he was hired. Every week is a pivotal week in the Les Miles era. Been that way for 12 years.

I don't have any inside knowledge, of course, but I'd be very surprised if he survived anything less than a 10-2 season.

Just accept it.

If it happens, I'll have no choice, obviously. I can turn my attention away from LSU football and forget about it, since the decision makers will have obviously done the same. Maybe I'm the only one in all of LSU fandom who will just give up on LSU football if he is still the coach next year. In that case, no problem. If I'm not, then LSU and Les Miles will have a problem.

So answer one simple question please. If we lose 3 games should Miles be fired?

You must donate a lot of money to the program for them to miss you

Can you read? I didn't say they would miss me. In fact, I said just the opposite. I said if I'm the only one who says to hell with it, then they'll have no problem. If I'm not...

The only way Miles doesn't make it to the end of the year is a complete collapse or a last minute loss because of some sort of Ole Miss/Tenn type debacle

As long as the average fan and president likes him he's safe.

I know of no fan aside from this board(they're a little more rational) that wishes to keep Les any longer than this year. Every year before this one, i knew a few fans that were Miles' supporters. At least from my experience, the average LSU fan is ready for a change.

again a lot of big money people wanted les gone last year and were defeated. why would they get their way this year?

They weren't defeated they had raised the money and Miles was going to be fired, so no they weren't defeated.

you realize it was the average fan that chanted leslie's name in TS last year?

the chants helped saved his job.

The fans and the media helped save his job. The media likes Miles and they had enough time because of the leak to rally around Miles which they did and that along with the fans put too much pressure on administration. That is what saved his job.

the average fan that goes to TS still likes les.

Les is a very likable guy, I like Les "the man" as a coach though he is coaching for his job at LSU every week. The Wisconsin debacle with Harris behind center was a snap shot of November last year and no one wants to re-live that. If the expectations weren't so high because of that pre-season ranking things might be different but with a pre-season ranking of 5th and the talent he returned "18 starters" he needs to have a special year this year and 9-3 ain't special. It is truly that simplistic.

After the Wisconsin game the media had already turned on Les so they aren't coming to his rescue this year and if he does get fired I think admin will be a little smarter about how they do it this time so as not have the lash-back from the fans. The old "better to get forgiveness than permission" thing. There won't be leaks this time so there won't be time for the fans to rally behind Miles.

JawjaTgah stated my thoughts . Good job

Every morning when I first open up TD or Dandy Don, I have the thought that today could be the day that the era ending announcement is made. I have to say I kind of feel mixed emotions because while I think CLM does not "do" modern football or know how to coach it, and that he isn't a really good game day coach or evaluator or user of the vast talent he recruits, I also really, really like him as a person and do believe he has loved LSU, even when LSU has not loved him in return.
