Is LSU a young team?

I keep hearing about how young they are as a reason they're not playing well.
Looking at the starters, I'm not seeing it.
On O:
OL - 1 sr, 3 jr, 1 fr
WR - 2 sr, 1 rs so
QB - sr
RB - jr
TE - sr
There's 2 underclassmen on offense and one is a 3rd year player. That's an offense full of veterans.
On D:
DL - 2 sr, 1 so
LB - 2 sr, 1 jr, 1 so
DB - 1 sr, 1 jr, 1 rs fr, 1 fr
NB - 1 fr
That's a veteran front 7 and a mix in the secondary with a lot of youth.
So the "LSU is young" notion that has been floating around can die. They are a veteran team that is kind of young in the secondary and is playing a frosh on the oline.

As someone who practices statistical analysis, your post gave me cancer

This is one of the many common excuses you will see from O pumpers

We are no younger than several other teams that have looked far better than we have to this point.

It's not that hard to grasp. Find another job.

The defense has a lot of true freshman getting significant playing time. Offense is another story.

these units have not played together, and esp. on offense, guys are playing new positions on the line.
there is a lack of starting experience, and playing together. this should improve with good coaching.

We have 4 freshman in our top 10 for tackles.
A Freshman with our #2 in sacks.
A Freshman leading in Passes broken up AND ints. In fact, only our Freshman have gotten an Int.
I mean, maybe all these Freshman don't "Start" but we sure as frick have to rely on them at this point.
On O:
Its more of an issue of youth at key spots on the Oline and simply just missing blocks.

the "youth" thing is just an excuse. I didn't hear any of it after BYU.

I feel as if all of our best players (with the exception of Guice and Key) are freshman and sophomores.

Georgia played 17 true freshmen opening week. They seem to be ok .

Maybe just maybe some of our upperclassmen just aren't that good.

i'm saying if it doesn't happen then you have a right to bitch. in my opinion it's way too premature.
we started 2-2 last year and it didn't look like we were capable of winning another game. we're 3-1 to start this year and have issues. some can be helped with coaching - the injuries can't be helped. But The issues are being addressed. The coach acknowledges them. that is the first step. you have no confidence in the staff, but I have more patience.

We r not necessarily young but very inexperienced

hanny talked about this yesterday. the playing 20+ freshmen stat is misleading. most of those are from garbage time/special teams.
