Is keeping Coach O as interim for one more year an option?

I am neither O Positive nor O Negative, but if he wins out I think we would owe it to ourselves and to him to see what he could do with a full year with he as the man.

Most of the coaches we are considering will still be willing to come to LSU next year if the team does not perform as hoped.

I know we would have to consider the impact on recruiting in this type of decision.

No. You need stability in a program. You don't want coaches wondering if they will lose their jobs the next year or recruits wondering who they are going to play the bulk of their college career for. Nothing good comes from that. If an athletic director hasn't seen what they need to see by December then they don't need to be an Athletic director.

Edit: The biggest thing that CEO needs in the spring is a top notch OC. What OC wants to come to a job that may be over the following year? CEO has already proven to go with the best OC available which at the time was firing Cameron and promoting Ensminger.

A new coach should have been hired last year and now you want to push this mess back another year? I give up!

Having an interim coach for three months creates enough instability. Imagine what another year of it would do to recruiting and the stability of the coaching staff as well as the decisions by juniors on their NFL plans.

The decision on Orgeron should be made by December 1 and if he is not retained the new hire should be made by December 15 at the latest. This is one time when LSU has the luxury of time to make a decision and they cannot blow it. If the decision is to hire a new coach they will have had three months to get all the pieces in place, communicate with agents, work out any buy out arrangements and hit ground running on recruiting and staff hiring. The new coach could determine which assistants he may want to retain and firm up their jobs .

Why don't we hire a new guy as a interim??? that way If we don't like him we can get rid of him with no worries

absolutely idiotic. Would destroy recruiting also leave our assistant coaches ripe for being poached.

I am totally in favor of giving Coach O a chance at the helm if he can win out the season. An enthusiastic coach who knows and loves the tradition and when asked who is Ronnie Estay he doesn't answer...who?

Only LSU could frick up a wet dream of filling one of the most desirable coaching vacancies in football by wringing their hands over Ole Miss' worst coach since World War II. O needed to beat Bama to have a shot, and he didn't The dream is dead. No do-overs. No grading on a curve. No bitching about the players. He had an objective and failed to meet it.
