It will be a battle in spring camp between CG and JL for backup and I think CG beats him out. I base this on nothing other than hearsay, spring game, and JL's past game performances.

Jarrett we know your just a kid but RP isn't going to be here anymore so what we are going to do is put you in as our quarterback against the best teams in the toughest conference in the country, even though you have no experience. We'll call the plays. Now first lets throw that low percentage out pattern. Hmm that didn't work so well. How about throwing it in the endzone to the wide receiver----damn we forgot to ell you about the double coverage thingy.

he may "beat him out", but he wont be the back up

does that make sense?

We can rebuild him

JL has had playing time for the last 2 seasons. It still looks like it's his first game when he plays. I give him props for staying with LSU after all the madness that has ensued when he's played but that's it. Some have it, some don't..... as far as LSU QB's are concerned. However, I still think he's the backup because of his playing experience but personally I'd rather have my eyes stitched shut if he plays again. Rebuild him? That's been the case for the last two yrs and there has been NO growth or change. Oh, wait, he didn't throw as many interceptions as his first year..... but still looks like he's a true freshman not a soon to be rs junior.

look at who his coach is teaching him

crowton sucks arse as a QB coach

jarrett and jordan still have bad mechanics, footwork, and throwing motions.

My apologies, dude. I thought you were serious about "we can rebuild him." You've been on this site before.... you know what I mean if someone out there may actually say and believe we could rebuild him. LOL

I agree with you, Crowton sucks soooo bad. If he doesn't show his '07 glimmer this season, that's it for him. I have a good feeling about Gonzales being the QB coach now though. Let Crowton hide up in his little booth and just call the '07 plays.

Yes, he's # 4. They go in this order:

JJ
Garrett
Shepard
Lee

I think Miles has said that Shep will never play a primary QB role on a couple of public occassions. Someone here posted that Shep was all on board for the Harvin type role, but you know how insider info goes.

Garrett will take that job over after next year, and then take the starting job as a jr.

Based on past Ranter predictions, I'm thinking Garrett will win the Heisman in 2011 since Murphy's last chnace is 2010.

Hasn't every non-starting player in LSU history or at least a very high percentage of them, been in line for some national award if only they had been allowed to start by our dumb coaches?

I do not expect Garett to beat out JJ even though from what I hear, he is more talented, because Miles places more emphasis on seniority and experience than he does on true talent
And anyone that has ever played football at a high level would understand that maturity and experience will put you in a better position to make a play over a more talented player that doens't know what to key on or where to line up on a given play. Sure, a more talented player might make a spectacular play every now and then that no one else could make but coaches want consistancy over flashes of greatness.
