Is it safe to say that Guice has been our best runner this year?

He has fumbled less but has been really explosive with limited carries. I think he deserves 10 carries a game. Here are the stats:

carries/ yds/ Avg/ long/ TD

Leonard Fournette 67 386 5.8 35 2
Derrius Guice 29 239 8.2 52 1

They use him in the slot, lots of depth at RB and get both on the field at the same time.

Fournette, while being injured, still leads the SEC in rushing!

No. Guice is good. I love him. I agree with Fournette that Guice "runs like he's allergic to the ground....he never wants to touch it". BUT, he is nowhere near as good as Fournette.

Very few RBs ever will be as good as Fournette. We don't know if Guice could take the pounding that Fournette takes if he was carrying it like Fournette game after game, but Guice's ypc last year was 8.5 ypc and he is at 8.2 ypc this year. So his numbers have been pretty phenomenal. He was about our only spark on offense last year against aTm. He had that long TD run that gave us the lead for good in the 2nd half (he had some awesome kickoff returns in that one too). And against Auburn, he was the spark for our only TD drive when he had that 50+ yard run (then he only got two more touches).

No he's nowhere near as good as fournette. His ypc vs ranked teams is under 2ypc so while he's a nice complement and could possibly be a very good back down the road fournette is worlds better right now.

I don't think that stat is accurate. Auburn was ranked in the top 20 when we played them last year and that is the most carries he has had against a ranked team with 6. He had a 9.2 ypc in that one. He has only had a couple of other carries against ranked teams.

If you include auburn last season his ypc vs ranked teams is 4.7 still not close to fournette so the point remains he's a good back but to say he's better than leonard is just incorrect.

He hasn't even had the kind of carries Leonard has had, so yeah, it would be a stretch to say he is better. What Leonard did last year with little to no passing game was Heisman-worthy. I'm still not sure how you're getting your average on Guice against ranked teams because he only had three other carries against ranked teams last year.
