Is it possible for LSU to make the Sugar Bowl?

I didnt think so but I read that as well. I think the Sugar might takes us over Auburn if Auburn gets destroyed and we handle Arkansas convincingly. Id say unlikely but those two things will have to happen to have a chance.

If they win out the regular season and lose to BAMA in the SECCG, they'll go. They'll probably go win or lose to BAMA

Orange Bowl picks a team not named UCF or Fresno St/NIU.
All these things happen, LSU has a better than 50/50 chance of making the Sugar Bowl IMO.

Not gonna happen. The iron bowl would have to be a historic beatdown, along with Mizzou beating AtM and then Mizzou gets beat like a drum in Black Hollywood.

It is possible, but super unlikely. If I were handicapping the possibility of it happening, I would put it between 5 and 10% and that is only because we still have the uncertainty of future results. It will be much more clear after this weekend if LSU even has a 5% chance.
For the dozen or so people who don't know how it could happen, losses don't matter. BCS bowls are allowed to select any AQ team in the top 14 for their slot that isn't contractually spoken for. Generally speaking, the bowls pick the highest ranked BCS team they can, but they are not obligated to do so.

Relative to the two preceding paragraphs, all teams ranked in the top 14, other than those from conferences that already have had two teams selected, must be included in the bowl selections.
Note: In order to participate in a BCS Bowl game, a team (1) must be eligible for post-season play under the rules of the NCAA and, if it not an independent, under the rules of its conference, and (2) must not have imposed sanctions upon itself prohibiting participation in a post-season game for infractions of the rules of the NCAA or the rules of its conference.

40% is awfully high given the amount of dominoes that need to fall before it can even happen. We are talking about several game results that have to come down the right way. There is no way, just to get to that point, that I would put a 40% likelihood of all of those things happening. That is just the prerequisite to the selection show down which the conference will inevitably be thrusting its nasty hands in. That's just me though.

the SEC champ loser playing in the Sugar is uncommon (2 times in the past decade).
2012, 2011: Georgia lost the SEC champ game the past 2 years, never went to the Sugar.
2010: Carolina lost the SEC champ and Arkansas went to the Sugar
2009: Florida did lose the SEC champ and went to the Sugar
2008: Alabama lost the SEC champ and went to the Sugar
2007: Tennessee lost the SEC champ and UGA went to the Sugar
2006: Arkansas lost the SEC champ and LSU went to the Sugar
2005: LSU lost the SEC champ game and UGA went to the Sugar (however last time the SEC champ wasnt in BCS title)
2004: Tennessee lost SEC Champ and Auburn played in Sugar (same situation as previous year)
2003: Georgia lost SEC champ game and LSU went to Sugar bowl.
