It is my understanding that Hatch's initial injury occurred 2 plays prior to the hit that the announcers claim "knocked Hatch out". That play, and the play previous appear to be botched by Hatch himself. Also from what I understand Hatch was completely out of it the rest of the night. My question pertains to his safety. Am I the only one who thinks it would be unsafe for Hatch to play this next week?

Hatch may not play inured or not. Lee may have stole his spot.

Hatch was definitely on another planet. they showed him after each big play, and he had stars and birds zipping around his head. he barely knew where he was.

I'm not a doctor, nor do I have any first hand knowledge of his medical situation, but I see NO reason for Hatch to play against MSU - first for his health and second he won't be needed in game where we are obvioulsy superior.

I really don't think we will see him. If Lee tanks it again, you will see even more run plays, and JJ might see the field.

Yeah, basically zero reason to play. No reason to risk the injury. No reason to risk the lack of passing game.

yeah agreed. lee needs to start the game for multiple reasons. he needs the experience starting just to see how he handles it. lee should play the entire first half. the second half can be split among quarterbacks because hopefully it will just be a glorified practice by then.

i really hope they let him rest, he played with a ton of heart and earned my respect at least but there is no reason for him to be out there so soon(brad lester, sprained neck)

It also hit me how the announcers were almost making light of the situation with all the "he looks drunk even though Mormons don't drink" and "he doesn't know where he is" stuff.

It occurred to me that that's kind of tasteless. If it had been a knee injury would they have made fun of him on the sideline for not being able to walk?

A concussion is a serious injury - it just seemed in bad taste to keep harping on the kid.

It would prpably be best if he didn't play this week to give himself time to recover from the concussion. Some research has shown that given time to recover a mild concussion does not have any significant lasting cognitive effects, but repeated mild concussions in succession can result in more permanent damage to the brain.

Hey, ahole, Lee didn't steal anything! He has earned and will earn all that he gets. This staff sees to that. I'm sure that the doctors will have a say about Hatch playing. Lee has earned the starting job for now, but the worm has a way of turning. We will need all three before the year is over.

he got knocked silly which is part of the game, he'll be fine eventually. the only thing that may be wrong is if they said the drunk thing because of the religion aspect but i didnt hear that so idk

Who are you talking to? Where was this, so much as implied?

It may not be in LSU's best interest after Lee's last game.

It just occurred to me that they would not have done that with any other injury. They kept on with the "He doesn't know what day it is ha ha ha" stuff but imagine them laughing at a kid with a knee injury like that. "Hey ma, I can't even walk ha ha ha". That would not have gone over very well.

And as someone pointed out earlier it is becoming more and more widely recognized how serious concussions are/can be for these guys.

IMO all that banter was very tasteless and I would have thought the same had it been an AU player instead of one of ours.

Hatch should rest until Florida, no since in risking it against Miss St.

all we need is a field goal or two on offense and this one is in the book

No you aren't b/c I would be very disaapointed in the staffif he plays against MSU. Hatch appears to have suffered a grade 2 concussion at a minimum which requires no contact for at least a week assuming that any residual symptoms such as headaches and dizziness have resolved.

hatch has to play at some point. i mean his skill set occupies half the playbook. if he doesent play this weekend, id like to see if lee can strap on those nike's and run some option stuff.
