The latest:
quote:

@RossDellenger: #LSU prez King Alexander in October, "I’d like to put a cap on all (coach salaries) before we’re paying a million a year to a punting coach"

Just go away dude.

Then we should put a cap on all the donations the athletic department makes to the university.

Well the the market will decide when "enough is enough" for coaching salaries, not our pussy of a president. Honestly that day is probably coming soon anyway, so why would he just not keep his mouth shut?

You'd never hear this from Alabama's president, who has seen Alabama grow substantially as a university because of football success.

He's so jealous that coaches are making more than him.

this is out of context and therefore qualifies as misinformation to support an agenda.

hell, I agree with his statement in principle; college coaching salaries are ridiculously high. so while I wholeheartedly agree, I also accept the fact that it is an uber competitive market and LSU must play the game or fold. and folding would be even more expensive. i'll be F. King Alexander knows this too.

it's such a shame that we have a president that cares about academics. i'll bet some of the posters here would close the university down and just run a football team if it was possible.

TAF should make a power move here. Take away the donations to the school until King is gone

I would just like a university president that understands basic economics and the implications of price ceilings for LSU coaches

He is short sighted. Cant believe he is a university president. Has it never been presented to him the correlation between athletic success and success of the university? Successful sports make the university an attractive destination for students, faculty, donors etc. Cant believe this idiot is who is running LSU, Actually I can.

Caring about Academics is one thing. Publicly shitting on the Athletic Dept over and over again is another thing. Its divisive and not leadership.

Meanwhile, this is what the other side has been saying since 2013:

quote:

“Nick Saban’s the best financial investment this university has ever made,” he said. “We have made an investment that’s been returned many fold.”

Alabama’s athletic department’s revenue has increased by 112% since Saban was hired, and last year returned $4 million to the school in the form of academic scholarships

same here! and i'll bet Alexander DOES understand that; he just doesn't like it. it's a free fricking country. i'll bet there isn't one college president in American that does not agree with him. the quote is out of context. even the bible has some bad quotes when taken out of context.

F. King's not gonna like it if LSU doesn't get the 8th win this year.

No it isn't. The entire quote is here. Yes, there is a "there" there.

quote:

Salaries for head football coaches are astronomical. Is there a dollar figure you refuse to surpass?

I can’t say that. I’d like to put a cap on all of them, before we’re paying a million a year to a punting coach. Or I’m going to be that punting coach.

The board did ask me when I got here, ‘How long would you stay here?’ I said, ‘As long as it takes, to become an assistant football coach.’

I'd like to put a cap on how many times we'll lose to Bama but that's just me
