Disagree. He was great on ST's.. Hell he won ST poy award. His instincts are solid from what I saw. He made some nice plays in limited action. He took a step back vs UF but many struggled in that game. He needs to get to 225 range and if he does he will be pretty good. Not Riley good but good enough to not be a huge liability.

No. I don't think so unless he picks up some weight. The word is out that you should run right at LSU. So next year, that will be the first thing teams try to do. Therefore, I hope the middle linebacker playing alongside White is physically up to the challenge because that will be the first thing needed.

Nothing against Donnie, but did you watch any LSU games after Beckwith got hurt? We were gashed up the middle consistently. We did big physical linebackers in the middle!

Just dont see it, he is out of position at ILB. Seems like he plays there out of complete necessity. I was very high on Riley and Jones going into their senior years...Alexander just doesnt have the instincts and size to be an ILB in this scheme it seems.

I also don't see the speed needed to be great. Maybe serviceable, but not much more. Hope I'm wrong though...

I hope so but I just dont think hes big enough. Every time I see him I think theres no way that he can play LB in the SEC. He might be in some packages like this year but a way he can be a regular starter

The best linebacker I have ever seen play at LSU is Michael Brooks, I think Beckwith can be a super star in the NFL if he can recover. But, as said above we need bigger linebackers, this Chavis small fast crap doesn't work.

Everyone CALM DOWN. Just look at who we are recruiting now. The OLBs we got last year are as big as many of the DEs Chavis looked at. The staff converted White to an ILB. They got Rice committed after they missed on Allen and Moses. They are recruiting the right players to the right positions now. Being undersized won't be a problem going forward. Next season will be the last we have any issues with it as things transition, and I don't think the team will feel the effects as much then as they did this year.

It's difficult to understand why we can't land a few monster Lbs this recruiting cycle. Very little experience at the position and God forbid White go down with an injury

Debo was great, but he played outside in a 4-3, different than ILB in a 3-4.
Debo would have feasted inside with Beck...
In other words, Alexander has a lot to prove to be on the field full time next year...

The good thing is that Aranda has a lot of guys to work with, especially those in the OLB mold. He will be able to plug these guys in next to White based on situations. I don't think we will just see Alexander and Thompson there. I am betting that some of the OLBs will get on the field next to White in 3 LB sets, as well.

Donnie is what 215 to 220 lbs?

Beckwith was what 250?

Riley was what 230 ?

I hope and pray Donnie plays lights out but is he big enough to play in the middle with SEC defenses?

Let's not forget about Corey Thompson. He started as a true soph before getting hurt. Was hearing real good things about him at OLB before the injury last summer. He has size and speed. Hope he comes back with a veangence for his RS Sr year and stays healthy.

THIS!!!!
In an ideal world Divinity is a 4-3 Sam (outside) LB, but in our 3-4 buck (Key) LB system, his Sam LB role puts him inside and I believe will be a great compliment to White. I see him starting over Alexander game 1 and never looking back! We have too much depth at Buck and Will to keep Divinity there when we need him on the inside!

I think Donnie will do great things at linebacker next year. He'll have a chance to earn his respect against Heisman trophy winner Lamar Jackson and the Louisville Cardinals.

He will be rag dolled regardless of how strong he is.
