He seems to be the next man up in line behind Debo Jones and Duke Riley to have a monster senior year after being primarily a special teams guy his first three years. If he can gain about 10-15 lbs, I think he has a chance under Aranda's guidance.

I think he and Devin will be solid next year. Remember Riley was a bit of an unknown coming into this year, and Aranda turned him into the MVP, and he earned it.
Thompson will also be a key contributor.

What was the opinion of Riley last year after losing Debo? I'm pretty sure everyone thought there would be a huge drop off and he would be a liability. That couldn't have been farther from the truth.

As with Duke being paired with Beckwith, Alexander will benefit from having White with him, patrolling the interior. I think he could grow nicely into that secondary role

The other potential positive is that the D Line recruiting has really picked up last year and so far this year. We won't have to rely on an undersized guy like Gilmore to man DT anymore. This will help the LBs more than anything.

Exactly the D line will help him and also being in the system for a full year will be beneficial. He should be at least 225-230 next year if he is 215 this year. He has the speed needs add some bulk and strength and then let his athletic talents take over

Just dont see it, he is out of position at ILB. Seems like he plays there out of complete necessity. I was very high on Riley and Jones going into their senior years...Alexander just doesnt have the instincts and size to be an ILB in this scheme it seems.

I'm not encouraged unless he can add the bulk. That UF game left a bad impression for me. Duke and Alexander struggled being on the smaller side when things got Rugby.

If youre expecting Donnie to replace Beckwith, then yea dont get your hopes up. But I expect Devin to replace Beck, and Donnie/Corey to replace Duke.
Donnie is not a thumping runstopper, hes a sideline to sideline tracker

If you watch him play, he is slow to diagnose run plays and kinda sits and waits for the play to develop. The problem is that he waits so long that the blocker is in his face before he makes a decision to move and hes not good enough to defeat a block without his speed. I honestly don't think he will have a Debo or Riley like season. Pains me to say but think more along the lines of lamar louis.

Not everyone thought Duke was going to be a liability. Duke was a fantastic special teams player and was always around the ball when he got PT on defense.

I just don't think Alexander has it. He's not nearly as good on ST and was underwhelming when he got on the field this year.

About Riley, we hadn't seen him play before this year so it was a toss up about how good he'd be.

But with Donnie, we've seen what he can do. 10-15 pounds might be a lot to ask for a senior year. He needs to work on his footwork and just overall strength. Hopefully he will complement devin well.

Deebo Duke and Donnie all came in under chavis at 205. He loved those 205 pound LB's. All of them or now in the league or about to be (not Donnie yet obviously). Kwon was 205 too I think. So if you judge the pattern, he should be able get a Range Rover and some planet fitness franchises come June of next year.

The problem with Alexander has nothing to do with his size. Size doesn't make tackles.
It's all about want to. Beckwidth is a beast, and it's unfair to compare Alexander to a player he is no where near as talented as.
As an ILB, you have to want to attack the line and defeat the blocker before he reaches you. Debo had a 7 yard TFL the first time he stepped on the field. Kwon was also a downhill tackler he stepped in the field. Of course you need strength, and power. But aggressiveness and want to can't be coached. This is why it bothers me to this day that Ronnie Feist never became a part of our defense. But we played guys like Barrow and Welter. Lamar Louis was even under utilized in my opinion.

If we keep Alexander in the Middle, it will be a disaster. White should be starting in his place without a doubt. It's not even close.

I expect Donnie to be a good LB next year.

Another year under Aranda and in the weight room

and he'll likely be playing next to White, who I think will blow up

Don't think he's in the mold of Debo. But then again I didn't think Duke was either. Aranda's impact cannot be underestimated.
