Point here does involve LSU....

In 1988 Smith was Alabama's starring QB.He was injured in week one and Bill Curry's back up QBs were awful.Texas A&M in College Station was next.

Hurricane Gilbert was in the tropics headed to the Gulf coast.Even though many models had it going due west to Mexico,Curry begged, pleaded with the SEC and SWC to have the game postponed.A&M was livid, but Alabama wouldn't budge.

Game postponed to Dec and Gilbert did go to Mexico.ESPN interviewed Jackie SherriL at Kyle Field when game was scheduled under sunny ,clear skies.

Just odd that in light of the stunt Foley and Florida pulled this week, the QB at the center of an identical situation in 1988 is head official at the site of moved game.

You can't make this up.

Good stuff.

Helluva memory. You must've stayed away from the blow in the 80's... unlike, errrr, "some people"

I'm 35. My mid 20s are a blur....I had what I thought was a lot of money, could party all night, and still make it to work at 9am. Will it come back to me or did you abstain from life's guilty pleasures?

I remember that too. Was A junior in high school. We actually played a game the night before in a muddy cow pasture.
