Between the 2010 and 2014 signing class we signed eight players from the state of Florida.

Of those eight players, six transferred or were dismissed from the team.

'10
Jakhari Gore (transferred)
Kadron Boone (graduated)

'11
Jerrard Randall (transferred)

'12
Avery Johnson/Peterson (transferred)

'13
Maquedius Bain (transferred)
Rashard Robinson (suspended/dismissed?)

'14
John Battle (on roster)
Travonte Valentine (transferred)

It's a damn shame that so many of these prospects haven't lived up to the hype. Still, the future looks bright with Battle, Toliver, and the number of Florida recruits we are currently in contention for.

Les could start by not pulling a scholarship from a kid 15 miles from Tiger Stadium 10 days before signing day in favor of one of those Florida kids.

Tevin Lawson. Dude has hated Miles for it ever since. Probably before that too. Plenty of players in Louisiana would love a grayshirt offer

My guess would be that he is referring to Sione Palelei, the tailback from East Ascension that signed with Oklahoma State.

Stat isn't really that interesting. Many Florida players have come here through the years and plenty have done well.

As for your list...

Gore, Randall & Avery Peterson were all very understandable transfers. Especially Gore & Randall, who were only at LSU for about a year before realizing they were going to have a hard time cracking the lineup.

Avery was on the verge of getting some PT last year before getting hurt, so it's not exactly unreasonable for him to have left.

Valentine... regrettably, easy come, easy go. Couldn't get over the academic hump, but wasn't here long anyway, but I don't think he took too many reps from anyone since he was mostly, if not entirely, ineligible.

Only Bain & Robinson are real losses as they contended for significant playing time and took a lot of practice reps.

And if you're listing 2010... and including Kadron Boone as graduated, you should consider adding Patrick Peterson to your list... and his presence alone suddenly makes the list look less bad than you're implying.

... lastly, I think you forgot Keven Toliver II, who has been enrolled since spring and has been looking good from what I've heard.

So, now it's not nearly as grim as your post suggests.

eta: you did mention Toliver, but not not on the list of active players, which you should have since he's enrolled and practicing.

The list included only the 2010-14 recruiting classes. I wasn't going to rehash the history of LSU recruiting Florida.

See my quote above.

I didn't intend for it to be grim. I was merely illustrating an observation I had made.

I stated this as well.

Or he could just keep bringing talent in

apologies. was posting in a rush and originally missed the Toliver comment since he wasn't listed under any years... I edited my post to reflect this. Though I still think you should have included him since he's been enrolled and practicing.

I somewhat took your post to be a little on the troll side, but see now that's not your intent. No hard feelings.

And, yes, it is regrettable that a few of these guys didn't pan out, but the only ones that really seem like losses to me are Bain & Robinson... and to an extent Avery, since he was on the verge of playing before getting injured, then buried on the chart.

The rest were here and gone quickly for varied reasons (which I see as a not as detrimental as someone who gets a lot of PT and attention then is lost to injury, transfer, discipline, etc.)

I'm gonna miss all those tackles Bain made every game...

Bain may not have played much yet, but he's been in the system for two years, had a productive spring game and has been taking at least some practice reps away from other players... likely Gilmore and/or Herron (at least until his suspension, which was not that long ago).

I don't know why he's leaving, but time and effort has been invested in him. So for him to walk away (if he's leaving voluntarily) is a loss... moreso than Valentine, who, though he may have had more potential, was mostly ineligible in his time here and didn't waste the coaching staff's time before leaving. This is my opinion, of course.

Reminds me of the many bad characters which were signed from Miami area by University of Miami in the 1980's but the coaches somehow managed to keep all the bad characters on the team until the President of Miami had enough of news headlines involving Miami players and dismissed the coach

It does point out poor recruiting in the talent rich state of Florida. Someone didn't do their homework well at all.

I would like to point out that the final year of his career at LSU was in 2010.

You need to fact check that story.

Where did you hear this? It was reported a few weeks ago that both he and Key were cleared. Cutrer was the only signee who didn't qualify.
